Global Warming

posted 9th Jul
I want to know if anyone feels the way I do about all of this green stuff. First of all let me say that I was born in 1986 and I have been very aware of global warming since the early 90's when I was in grade school. But there was no talk of fixing it or what we could do to help the earth. Now after 15 years of weather changes and severe hurricane seasons, tsunamis, earth quakes, and winters that barely snow except for blizzards, etc.Why is it that people want to make a change? They have been quite aware of the atmospheric changes and the rising oceans among other thingsfor at least thirty years now. Now all of a sudden we should be green and do this and buy that, but I really and truly believe a lot if the damage is already done and it is too little too late. And it really get to me, all this advertising for all of these green products now, but they didn't have any of this. But the thing that gets me is that they want you to buy all of these exspensive products, why should we have to spend even more money to try to fix our planet? Why is so exspensive to buy hybrids cars, or to get your car converted to run on used veggie oil?   How much more severe weather can we handle, between the floods in America, and the earth quakes, and the tsunamis how much more can we take. And lets not forget hurricane season is starting...

I honestly think people are only starting to change now because of gas prices. Not all people of course, but I think it is becoming a bigger issue becuase of that. Sad that we have to wait for things to get so bad before we do anything about it.

It's actually not that expensive to convert a diesel to run on veggie oil.. I think it's worth the money.. And any diesel can run on biofuel without a conversion.

There was and is major part of the population that does not believe in global warming.

You don't need to buy expensive products to be green baking soda and vinigar are wonderful cleaning agents. Cloth diapers are easier than you think and will save you a ton of cash.

as for cars it's a supply demand thing. Up until this year people still wanted to buy big SUV and trucks.

I've heard of biofuel, but Im not really too sure on what it is. It costs about $6,000 here to convert a regualar gasoline vehicle to run on veggie oil. And since I don't know too much about biofuel or how much it costs I wouldn't get a diesel cause diesel is almost a dollar more than regular gas.

Diesel engines get twice as many miles per gallon as a gasoline engine, so it's actually keeper..

The only problem with some biofuels is that it is raising food prices in our country, but worse, in 3rd world countries. It has also upped the the corn production (ethonal) so much that other crops are being neglected and peple that used to grow say, strawberries, are growing corn instead becuase that is where the $$ is. I dont think it is a good long term solution for that reason.

Its outrageous how much food costs now. I just can't beleive that milk costs almost 5 dollars a gallon, and the fresh veggies are up there too. I need assistance to buy the food I need. But because I do not have a minimum wage job or don't work at all I can't get any help. But that is a whole subject I could rant about as well.

We moved back up here from FL recently.. Food is way cheaper down there, even Vermont products are cheaper down there lol wth..
We buy all of our produce locally at the farmers markets, which is a little more expensive, but I know where my food is coming from and it tastes 100 x better than any grocery store produce I've ever eaten! Plus I feel it's a little more "green" than buying something that was shipped from say CA..
All of these increases are really putting a strain on the average american, I think something really needs to be done.
