Babies 17 months apart... easy or hard?

posted 8th Jul
I'm expecting my 2nd son in Oct and that will make my sons 17 months apart? I'm worried my 1st son will lose a lot of my attention...that makes me sad. I'm worried how I'm gonna juggle both and make sure they both get all their needs met... how many people have had babies this close in age.. and please tell me it's not gonna be has hard as I think it is... or maybe tell me the truth... it's gonna be hard! LOL

My youngest two are 15 months apart. It's not so bad but at times it does get hard. My son is very jealous of her, but he's also the middle child. I try to give him as much attention asI can still and include him in a lot of stuff I do with the baby. He likes to help me get her diapers and toys for her to play with. He still tries to act like the baby of the house. He's now starting to adjust to her pretty well.

My first 2 are 16 months apart and my second and this one will be just over 12 months apart. For me it's really really hard...but then again I do everything alone.I don't have help...I am sure with help it will be a lot easier. Jealousy is the hardest part...Mine are so jealous of eachother but I think you can expect that with any age...

Ok ladies let me say this is the 2nd time im having kids 18 mo apart.  Im not looking forward to it. im sure its like having twins. they did everything 2gether. bubblebath to the floor(half a bottle), a whole box of cereal and half a gal of milk in a bowl which only got 10 spoons into it, getting into the toothpaste. Whatever the younger couldnt get the older got it for her then told me what she's doing with the whole" its not me mommy i just got it cuz she wanted it". it was insane. not to mention you have 2 in diapers which really adds up and the oldest one was teething his back teeth the same time she cut her front ones. whenever 1 gets sick they both do. Can you say sleeping on the floor of a room with a garbage can and getting up everytime you hear them burp cuz u know whats coming. Good luck ladies. Just know im in the boat again with u guys

you were supposed to lie and tell us its easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i had never thought past the baby stage though. i only thought about how hard it would be to have two babies. not two toddlers or two kids. hmmm, you gave me something to think about. i need to plan out how i am going to handle them!

lol my first two were 2 years and 1 day apart and it was really easy. I know exactly what you are talking about though. My oldest gets anything his brother asks even the stuff he is not suppose to have. One will push the chair towards the cookie jar and grab a bunch of cookies and leave the evidence everywhere lol. Two toddlers is the worst! Mine fight constantly over who gets what, they take everything from eachother. So much easier when one was still a baby lol.

Mine are 18 months apart... I don't think it's that bad. I worked in a daycare for 4 years and used to change the diapers of 6 kids all day long so changing 2 kids isn't that bad to me.. it does get a little crazy at times because my daughter is very stubborn and can be demanding but for the most part it's fun and I'm glad they are close together becausethey will (hopefully) grow upas friends. My brother and I are 5 years apart and I couldn't imagine my mom having a 5 year old and then turning around and having a newborn again.. in a way I think that would be harder. Good luck ladies!!

my 2 daughters are 16 months apart i have a 2 yr old and a10 month old. yeah at times it is hard but most of the time i find it easy i would just suggest getting some kind of routine i don't feel like my oldest daughter lacks attention i would say she most probably gets more but it is lovely as her and her younger sister are so close. even if 1 of them is crying the other will look over and if my youngest starts crying her sister will come over and stroke her head and tell her it's alright.i just hope they stay as close as they are now

Hi,
I have two children 19 months apart, the younger is ten months and the older almost 2.5. I don't want to sound negatively, but it's a hell of work and it's hard. Especially with my kids who don't sleep! I am lucky, because I am already working and they're in the day care.
On the weekend we were just changing diapers!   It's fund too and definitely worth it although I don't sound like it.

My daugter and son are 14 months apart and I feel like i'm losing my mind most of the time. My son is just 1 month old so that's probably why. I'm still trying to get adjusted to everything. My husband is a over the road truck driver so i feel like a single parent most of the time. MY daughter absolutely hated her brother whenwe first brought him home because she was so used to being the only one we paid attention to. then all of a sudden heres a new baby and we cant just drop everything for her. be prepared to cry a lot in the beginning. sorry to tell you that but i still cry every now and then even tho it is getting better. she doesnt feel so left out anymore. tho she has her moments, usually when she's tired. it will get better tho. just remember that.
