cats and newborns????

why do i keep hearing that i will have to get rid of my cat after the baby arrives? are they really that bad?

Because people think they will sleep in the crib when baby is in there and suffocate it.. I have 2 cats, never had any problems..

Just keep the cat out of the babies room make sure it knows it's not allowed in there. I have a cat and it has never been an issue she just stays out of the kids rooms.

  yep that's what they say. But if you cat is trained not to go in the babys' room hey.

No, you just have to use common sense. I have 4 and I've never had any problems with them   You just have to teach them to be gentle with the baby. 

Mine are all indoor, and have their shots, so that makes a difference.

The cat will smell milk on the babys breath... and try and smell it and prossibly lick the mouth... If you decide to keep your cat keep an eye out!!! watch carfully, you donthave to get rid of the cat just keep a close eye,... when i first brought mybaby home, my cousins cat was fallowing me and my baby everywhere.. even waited outthe door when i got out of the shower and out our bedroom door, it was kinda creepy!!!

lol yes its creepy for the cat to follow you around.
i shall kept the cat away but it only bothers when hes hungry other than that hes hiding somewhere ........

its the milk around the babies mouth, if the cat smells it they lick and suck and take the breath away from the baby, but you dont have to get rid of the cat, i just block the babies room off so the cat cant get in there

A cat CANNOT suck the baby's breath. Suffocate them? Yes.
