Teething? Really?

posted 7th Jul
Julien has been SO fussy the past day or two and he's been drooling and jamming his hands into his mouth. I just thought it was him being...well, him or that he's going through a growth spurt (he's been eating non-stop). But I found an article about teething (http://www.todaysparent.com/baby/article.jsp?content=1064191&page=1) and he seems to have all the symptoms. At the same time, he's only 3 months and 1 week old. Is it possible? When did your kids start teething?

Chelsie has had all of the symptoms of teething since she was 1 month.

It can happen-- some babies are born with teeth already.

OMG, I really hope it's not a tooth because I can not imagine how painful breastfeeding will be. It's bad enough as it is because this kid has no concept of treating the girls with a gentle touch, but if there's a tooth coming out, I think I'm going to have to wean him sooner than I thought....

Born with teeth: Really? I've heard that too but I thought it was just some urban myth to scare people. That would be insane having a baby that young with teeth.

Yep, they can be, it's really rare though. My aunts cousin had a son with two tiny teeth on the bottom in the front.

And good luck on the boobie feeds with some teeth, heh. I was always worried about that part of it. :p

Wow!   On the teeth!

And for the BFing with a toothy baby - did you do it? I just don't want him to gnaw off my poor nipples....

edit to add: Oooh, I just noticed your little girl is a few days younger than my baby, so I guess you probably haven't encountered teeth yet. She's beautiful, btw!

My son started teething at 2 months....his first popped through at 4 months 6 days. He is now 8 months old with 8 teeth while working on 2 more. He's pretty far ahead of most of the people I know, but it is possible....

Really? Can they learn to be gentle? Because at this point, I'm in so much pain. We were doing good with the breastfeeding and then lately he's learned this terrific trick - he sucks in, grabs firm hold of my poor nipple and then yanks back with his entire head. I can never predict when he'll do this, but it hurts like an SOB and I think he's done some permanent damage. Then, when I let out a shriek from the pain, he doesn't let go, he just looks up at me (nipple still firmly grasped) and smiles.

oh that does sound sore....I had the occasional bite-but if I yelped he would get upset and cry....I think thats why he eventually stopped.

maybe keep tyring to teach him that hes hurting you when he bites-hopefully he will get the message.

good luck-you'll figure it out
