Choice or Genetic?
posted 7th Jul
I am always curious as to what people believe.
Do you believe that homosexuality is a choice or that it is genetic predisposition, just like heterosexuality? If you believe it's a choice, please tell me why you feel that way (don't just say...it's a CHOICE!!).
Obviously, for my own part, I believe it's the same as heterosexuality. I was born with my attraction to women. For as long as I've known there was such a thing as attraction, it was to other women. I never made a choice to be attracted to one or the other...I just was.

I dont think its choice but i think genetic is wrong too... its in their makeup but its not like a disease that gets past generation to generation

I think the whole "bi-sexual" thing is a choice, it's just all about the sex to them. But I don't think just being gay is, I don't believe they chose to be gay.

I voted Choice because, every one has a mind of their own, But then I think I've seen some little kids that act really fem if there a boy for eg. Then I just automaticly think there going to be gay when older...

I believe it's genetic. My mom's closest friend is homosexual and there are way to many members of his family who are also homosexual for me to believe that it's simply a choice. I have other reasons for believing that too, but I didnt' want to make my post too long. That just seems to be evidence to me!

I think it's genetic. There have been studies on male twins, growing up in the same environment, with the same values, and one will prefer to play with barbies while the other plays with G.I. Joe's, then he grows up to be gay... it can't possibly be a conscious decision if the characteristics show up that early in life...

I believe it's genetic.
I don't choose to be sexually attracted to men, I just am.

My question is how, if its genetic, do they continue to reproduce and pass the gene?

I think neather. I think its just law of attraction.
I am physically attracted to men with tan skin and black hair. I am not attracted to blondes and I am not atracted to skinny guys. I cant help it, I dont find blonde hair or skinnyness attractive, I cant help it that I dont find really white or really dark skin attractive.
A homosexual is attracted to a person of the same sex. They cant help it, its just what they are attracted to..
And if my younger brother turns out to be homosexual I will have proof for myself that it is not a choice but something they are born with.

I think for the most part it's genetic. But choice plays into it in some cases (ie. being bisexual). I know they've done MRI's and autopsies of homosexual men's brain's and there's a part in there that is the same as a heterosexual woman's brain. I saw some sort of special on it in one of my philosiphy classes...

Just because a male is femme...that does not mean he is/will be gay.
Some of the "manliest" men I know are gay.
