I don't think it's a gene per se. More of a preference. Like is there a "gene" that dicates whether or not someone likes bannanas. You either do or you don't (for the most part, lol).

I don't ever remember a time where I woke up and thought "Hey, I think I'll be straight", and all homosexual people have told me the same thing. It's the EXACT same way that we know we are straight or bi.

Okay, why do some believe bisexuals made the choice to be just that?

Bisexuality is not, last I checked, about running around humping everything that moves. Just like hetero and homosexuality, it is about who they are attracted to. They just happen to be attracted to both sexes.

Is it not entirely possible they were born that way as well?

Oh, maybe they are.... I identify myself as "bisexual" but I see it more as a choice for me. I never was attracted to women untill I met a particular woman who I was very very attracted to in my late teens, and things happened and whatnot. But I still am more overwhelmingly attracted to men than women as a whole although I can see the possibility of being with a woman instead of a man.

They claim obesity is genetic as well but there's still not an "obesity" gene, lol.

Okay, look at it this way...did you wake up one morning and say, "I think I'll be attracted to men"? Or did you always just know?

Ok well lets put it another way. My husband and I have been together for 13 years now and I love him. I am attracted to men, but I also can admire a hot woman. Sexually we have experimented and enjoyed very much. Now because I enjoy being with another women does that make me GAY? It is absolutely a choice. I made the choice and now that I am a mom I have made the choice to stop and make her my priority. Either way it was a concience decision.

I dont think its genetic because I think we would see a trend in familieshaving certian ammounts of homosexuals.

I honestly think it is just what a person is attracted to. You dont choose to be attracted to a certian type or physical feature but its not genetic eather.

It is not a choice! Ask any homosexual they did NOT choose what they are attracted to. If anything they wish they could choose not to be.

I agree. I have many homosexual friends who have told me that. One once told me "Tara, I wish I could choose, but I can't. I like men, I can't see myself with a woman. I just can't go against what's inside me, even though it makes my life more dificult".

There have been many studies on whether or not it is genetic and scientists are starting to lean more towards yes. They have been looking at identical twins that are homosexual, and they either both tend to be homosexual or both tend to be straight even when they were raised in seperate homes. Also, if it is a gene then anyone can be a carrier just like anyone can be a carrier for downsyndrome. It doesn't mean your child will 100% get down syndrome, and if being gay is genetic it wouldn't be 100% that your child will get the gene and it also doesnt mean that ALL of your children will have it.

I think it is a choice whether or not you want to live the lifestyle of a homosexual or a heterosexual, but you can not choose who or what sex you are attracted to. The only thing you choose is how you live your life with the cards you've been dealt.
