Ultrasound Accurate?
posted 7th Jul
My last sono was on June 23.. my baby weigh 5 lbs 8 oz wich had me concern weighting so little.... Today, 2 weeks later I had an ultrasound and they said my baby weigh 7 lbs 4 oz.... how can my baby increase 2 lbs in 2 weeks...? How accurate is this? I dont know what to believe because of this increase... I feel more worried than last time now... as far as I'm told baby gains 1/2 pound per week!!! I dont know what to think or believe.

I think that's fairly normal toward the end, but they're almost always off by at least a few oz.

I never listen to ultrasound weights. They are almost always off by a lb or more. I have known women who had a c-section because their baby was supposed to be 9 or 10 lbs and then they have a normal sized 7 lb baby. Don't worry too much about it.

there are just a guess. my god-daughter was 6lb 13oz and they told my friend her baby was going to be 9,10 pounds

ultrasound weighs are complete guesses for the most part.
They can be off by a whole pound either way, and sometimes WAY off.
But it's normal for a baby to gain that much wight like that towards the end anyways.
*shrug*

U/S are not really accurate when it comes to weight. My U/S tech said they could be off as much as 15 oz. So its possible the first time they estimated too smallor the second they estimated too big. I wouldn't be very concerned if I were you unless your dr is.

Thank u all..... they have done so many sonos because of her weight ... since I wanted to ask my doc to induce tomorrow now if shes still under weigh then I dont know if I should bother to ask... If U/S has been SO off I rather not even pay attention to it just hopefully my baby has a good weight on her.. I be happy with her weighting 6 pounds..
