ear piercing

Just wondering what you ladies thought about ear piercung and how old you think the baby should be before they get their ears pierced. I read 9 months in a parenting magazine today...

My doctor said that I could have her ears pierced after her two month shots. But her daddy says no.  

I got my daughter's done at 4 months and plan on doing this baby's around the same time. She never tried to "play" with her earringssince she was so little and now that she is older she is so used to them being there and hasn't tried to mess with them. I liked waiting until 4 months so she had 2 rounds of shots done just to be safe.

I think it's completely up to you. I got Aubrianna's ears done when she was 3 months, and honestly, I got mixed feelings from people about it. Most of the people who didn't like it were people over like 35.... different times. I personally think baby girls look soooo cute with them done!

Mine were done at 2 months.

i saw two babies get it done at the mall the other day... they were two months old... It was awful watching it.. but seriously they stopped crying like a minute later... the only thing is.... i wish they had two people doing it so that both ears would get done at the same time... I wont do it unless they ahve two people cuz after that first ear man.. i almost started crying... but atleast they wont remember and they wont play with their ears that young so there is less chance of infection... if I get the courage Im gonna take Baylie as soon as I can!

I asked for 2 people to do it but most places won't do 2 people at a time.... the lady told me its because if one person is off even by a second the baby could jerk it's head therefore making the opposite person to miss the correct place. I cried when Aubrianna got her's done... haha probably longer than she did!

I would never put holes is another person's body without their concent. I always feel bad when I see little babies being forced to have their ears pierced by the mall people. When Kailyn wants them she can have them pierced by a reputable piercer - not some random retail worker who thinks piercing guns are safe and/or clean. I also just dont like how it looks on babies. But thats all JMO.

My mom had mine done when I was a baby but at a doctors office. She wouldn't ever let me get mine peirced at a mall or anything haha.

We are waiting until Lorelai makes the choice that she wants her ears pierced.

My daughter was 3 months old when I had her ears pierced. I asked the doctor when would be a good time for her and he said like 2 to 4 months old. So at 3 months old I had her ears pierced. She didn't cry at all. My mother on the other hand was like why are you doing that they will get stuck on things when you pull off her clothes or they can get caught in a sweater and so on. I was like mom chill. You just have to be a little more careful when changing babies. I was more worried about stabbing her with my nails then I was about her ears. She is now 10 and I am taking her to the mall next week to get them double pierced. She is so excited.

I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 13, and I am not planning on piercing my daughters until she asks me to. I feel the same way about cutting her hair though, She is three years old and I have never cut it. I just don't feel like it is right for me to make those choices about her body. And besides, when she is old enough to be excited about getting her hair cut or her ears pierced I think it will make the experience that much more fun. I don't expect her to wait as long as I did, but I'm sure that once she starts school and her friends have pierced ears she'll come running home to ask for them. heh
