Anyone with an uncircumcised son??

posted 7th Jul
Ok so here's the deal. After research it was decided that my son who is now 7, would not be circumcised at birth. I have done some internet investigation and get sorted answers. My concern is that his foreskin is not retracting at all. I have showed him how to push it back to clean it and he says that he is doing that. It's just last time I checked the "hole" was barely the size of a pencil eraser. It is also my understanding that he's not supposed to force anything.....one site I consulted said this was normal for his age and that by the time he reaches puberty and is "playing around" more that it will work it's way bigger to retract fully....I have no friends with experience in this so I hope some of you can help.

What is normal????

I know that to some degree (whether fully or partially) it is supposed to be pulled back because of erosion of skin cells by the time he is three. My son had frequent uti's so was given hydrocoritsone cream to be put on it and make it come back by the time he was 1 so that I could clean it. I think that it's supposed to be fully retracted by the time he's 12 but I'm not sure.

My BF is not cicumsised and his skin only retracts when it is hard TMI maybe, but you asked ;). Anyways, just make sure make sure make sure that he is pushing it back everytime he pees and washes.

My sisters son had to have his clipped because it reattached.

Good luck

Your son is completely normal. Most boys forskin does not retract fully until they start learning to masturbate. At which time the touching and movement moves the skin back. This way it is done slowly and does not have and dangers of ripping or tearing. Forcefull retractions can lead to scar tissue, thus leading to boys sometimes needing to be circi at a later date. That is why most if not all medical professionals will tell you. Dont touch the foreskin.

So far my son hasn't had any uti's...I'm not sure if he's been pushing it back when he pees, I'll have to talk to him about that.

Okay, I will tell you now that I do not know the technical terms or anything about uncircumcised penises- BUT I found out recently that a friend of mine was not circumcised and because of it he CANNOT become erect whatsoever due to the pain from it. He's 30 years old and feeling hopeless for his future at this point because he feels as though he can never have a relationship/marriage/children due to this.

I don't knowif that is normal for uncircumcised penises, or if it is just him, but either way I hope this may have been helpful.

whoa.. that guy is not normal and should probably see a Dr.

My son is not circumsized and neither is his father. i did plenty of research before i decided not to have my son cut. Your son is the only one who should be pulling his foreskin back. Some never fully retract until they're 18. I don't think you should worry so much unless he does get infections or something. of course he should always keep it clean to prevent that.

Well my son is now complaining that its hurting. But I checked it out and there's a TINY bit of broken skin that's irritated b/c he's been touching it so much. I have def. been reaffirming with him to push it back and keep it clean ! I just hope it doesn't ever give him problems in the future b/c the rest of my family doesn't agree with my decision and keep saying that he's going to have probs later and I'll regret it later.

I asked my husband (uncut) if what's happening with your son is normal and he said it's totally and completely normal. That forskin will pull back around the time of puberty (11-14) and doesn't open much before that. Before that he said don't pull it back farther than it's naturally going (and a small hole at 7 is totally natural) in order to clean it.

both of my boys are intact (ages 6 and 21 months) and my oldest was I think almost 4 when he retracted and my younger one is beginning to retract but isnt fully as of yet.
Is he able to retract it at all? Just by pulling back on the foreskin *gently* to have the little head come out? I would say as long as it isnt causing him any issue if its not able to be retracted yet, just let it be. He doesnt need to be cleaning it or anything, from what I understand at this age it is self cleaning. It isnt until a man is sexually active that it should be retracted and "rinsed" for god measure but now, noworries at all. And you can google search online about intact-ness and any questions relating to it. My husband is circed but our sons are not so its all new to me too. (And we live in the USA which has the highest rate of routine infant circing in the entire world, I feel its unnessicary of course which is why we chose to not do it. )

Thanks so much for the information ladies. I'm feeling much better about his "intactness"...I will just make sure he understands that he should be keeping himself clean (as he should be anyway!!)
