anyone out there withdrawing from antidepressants?

posted 7th Jul
Hey all, I am currently going off my anti-depressant meds because of being pregnant. Now I can't tell which symptoms are baby and which are meds. This is horrible. I am feeling pretty awful and like no one understands. I am a single mommy to be and I think I am quite jealous of all you mommies who have a hubby or a boyfriend to share all your experiences.

Are you doing this under a doctor's supervision? Are you weaning down slowly? And why are you going off of them when usually they can safely be taken during pregnancy?

I am going off with a doc supervising. I have been on anti-deps for almost 10 years and I want off. Plus the one I am on is not good for baby. It is Cymbalta and I have read that the withdrawals - no matter how slowly you wean off - are horrible.

Ok. I do understand...very well. I am 17 weeks along and since week 5 I have been weaning off of a pain medication I have been on for almost 8 years (for pain control, not bought off of the street or abused). I tried at one point to stop cold turkey during my 13'th weekand became violently ill and my doctor screamed at me...withdrawing all at once like that is horrible for mom and baby. I know you must feel like shit but keep in mind, as long as you are weaning down, there is still some amount of drug in your system and you will start to feel better. I have had to do this very VERY slowly and every time I drop in mg's, I feel like crap for a few days but I know I am not in total withdrawel.
I know that anti dep. drugs like Paxil and Zoloft can be taken during pregnancy at low doses but I don't know alot about Cymbalta being it is relatively new to the market. What w/d symptoms are you having?
Are you able to deal with your depression during your pregnancy without meds? Set up a support system if possible because once you have detoxed and are completely med-free, it can be a huge crash emotionally and physically.

I am here if you want to pm me...I understand how horrible it feels to have to come off of a medication but you are strong for doing it.
