umbilical cord question

when your baby's umbilical cord fell off was it "instant belly button"? my son's fell off when he was 2 weeks old and that was 2 weeks ago but it still doesn't look like a belly button, in fact it looks raw inside the hole but it doesn't bleed or puss. does this sound normal or should i call the doctor. there isn't a smell or redness and for the most part he seems likea normal baby, any advice????

Yeah that sounds normal to me. Brads actually came off in pieces.. yuck.
