I was a smoker before. The way I stopped was thinking of suffocating my baby with each puff. It sounds horrible, but it was the only thing that could get through my stupid nicotine loving head and make me stop. I haven't smoked one cigarette since the day after I found out I was pregnant. It was hard, and sometimes still is, but I just knew I had to do it.

heck ya! I have good days and bad days. Ill go a few days w/o, then Ill smoke like 3 in a day. Its a tough thing to do! Be easy on yourself, let yourself make mistakes, youll get there. Its not an easy thing to do. PS our life storys sound alot alike. Just take it one day at a time.....

I smoked but quit cold turkey.. if you really want to you can, imo.. not to be rude.. but seriously.. i know people who have smoked for 10+ years and quit for lesser things than a baby.

The only expectation I put on myself it to cut down. Alot! I think once I get a good chance to peak at the bean, that will help. Theres alot of long term beni's anyways. But whatever...Do it at your own pace, but deff do it. Its worth it. Im telling myself this as I tell you this...lol

I smoked for about 4 years a pack and a half a day b4 i got preggo with my first and i stopped the day i found out, the morning sickness made it a little easier lol. Then I started again when my son was 1 and i wished i never had. I quit again when i found out i was preggo with this one. you're on the right track, some people dont think they need to quit when they get prego. but i guess thats their decisions. You can do it just think about the little guy or girl. Good luck!!!!!

Im really trying to stop but i now see that evrytime the babys father comes in my presence i get xtra stressed out and want one.He really doesnt help me at all.I think as soon as he leaves i will be much better off with quiting. My doctor helped alot by telling me 2 trick my body and not smoke at my usual times. It really works ive only had 4 puffs 2 day.Go me lol

It's so so so hard. I quit as soon as I found out with my daughter (and then started again after she was born- stupid!) Just found out that we are expecting #2 and sonce again quit cold turkey, this time for good. I just think about it as not even being an option, like you would never light up in the grocery store, it's just not something that is done. I try to think like that about smoking while pregnant. But it's so hard!! Every day gets better though and when you know that you have quit for the sake of your baby it is the best feeling, and also not having the guilt! I am not one to judge, I know how hard it is, good luck!!!

Thats awesome. I know exactly what you mean! Those damn baby daddys are like triggers. Its tough being a single mama. Esp when the dad bails early. I know, Im there. I deff plan of quitting completely, but Im also realistic. Just be easy on yourself, you have enough on your plate mama.

I dont smoke, but I know that if you tell your doctor they can help you quit. Also my husband called a 1800 quitnow and they helped him.

Any effort you can make to cut down is great. Everyone knows the ideal would be to stop altogether but it's hard. My SIL didn't even bother to slow down at 4 months, she actually left to get another pack in the middle of the night. As long as you're doing better than her and her 4lb baby then consider that a victory.
