re: Hypermesis Gravidarum

I started getting sick during my first pregnancy around 9 weeks and it lasted up until she was born. I was not able to eat ANYTHING without throwing it up. I tried 2 different prescriptions and nothing worked for me. I was still working at the time, and that was challenging because it was at a daycare in the infant room! I guess it must of been worth it all, because I am expecting baby #2 and have the same thing going on. I can sympathize with all of you and I hope you find something that works for you!!!!! Mommyhood is worth it all!!!!

Quoting Ama Jess:" Oh my gosh, I understand. If one more person tells me to eat a cracker I just might explode. I had pretty ... [snip!] ... my 9th week and am dreading how long it might last for. Has anyone out there had it end at the end of the first trimester?"
i had HORRIBLE morning sickness. it started at week 6 and barely ended when i was 12 weeks. i had to quit my job. i couldnt get outof bed for 3 weeks straight, i was litterly stuck to my bed and the only time i got up was to puke. i could hardly keep anything down, therefore, i was disgusted by food. starving but didnt want to eat. i had nausea all day and night. every day every night. and i use to yell at my family and friends when they told me to eat crackers bc that smurf doesnt help at all! you're not alone. but thank got it ended just before my 2nd trimester. i never want to go thru that again

Hi my name is kelly and i had HG for my first 3 pregnancies. It started at about 8 weeks and went thru til i was about 14-15 weeks. Over these 3 pregnancies i lost a total of 100kgs. No meds could help me, i spent so much time in hospital that it become my second home. By the way i had 3 girls all healthy.
This time around i have been only nauseated except for a couple of times where the drs think have caught a virus and thats why im vomiting. I had my ulteasound yesterday and im measuring 11.4 weeks.
I agree with the ladies here that they get sick of being told that we are lying and its in our head...bulldust. I think i know my body well enough to relise its more then normal morning sickness.

It sounds like me every single day >.< I had HG with my first pregnancy and now I'm finding that with my 2nd one that it seems to be a little worse, to the point of actually having to go to the ER and even throwing up blood. I really wish that there was something out there that would totally take care of it but sadly, I doubt that'd happen for a very long time. But I agree with all of you who have said you're sick and tired of people telling you to eat saltine crackers and drink flat 7-UP to help your stomach. It doesn't seem to help and even eating those Preggie Pops don't always work either. The only half relief I have found is called Organic Queasy Drops but even after 30 minutes after eating one, I start to get sick to my stomach really bad. I hope the doctors figure out something that better helps us one day soon!

I thought i had escaped HG this time but no such luck. To date i have now lost 21kgs. Im 18 weeks tomrrow. I take 4mg of zofran a day, but it doesnt really allow me to eat. Im lucky if i can manage 1 meal a day. I'm also living on apple juice and water when i can. I just keeping thinking to myself why cant my body just kick in like it did in my previous pregnancies and let me enjoy the rest of my pregnancy.

I had to get out of the shower to throw up and was choking on my own vomit. I can't eat anything that tastes like anything.. because I get sick. sorry, sad/frustration vent.

I am on my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy I lost 20 lbs due to HG. This one I am 11 weeks and have already lost 10. I am on Zofran and have already been to the ER for fluids once. I know mine got better at the 5 month mark last time. I am praying for the same improvement this time. Fingers crossed. Also, anyone else get tired of all the suggestions to eat crackers and drink ginger ale or take a .. vitamin B6 and all of that. Don't they think we would have tried that already. SHEESH.

11 weeks today i was diagnosed with HG last month on the 20th when my fiance dragged me to the ER cause i was puking so much i had popped most of the blood vessels in my right eye and a few in my left...i have had to get fluids twice and im on 4mg of zofran and it doesnt seem to be working im still throwing up with constant nausea...i agree with all you women out there im tired of being told to take a vitamin B6 , keep crackers by my bed or drink ginger ale they don't work
so far i have lost 5+ pounds and i can only get one meal down a day and if i drink water in the morning once it touches my stomach i throw everything up

Update... went to the dr. today. I have officially lost 12 lbs. They have told me I need to take the Zofran the Vitamin B6 and Unisom. That it was ok to take them all. They also want me to try iron tablets since I am anemic. Really? Iron ? Wont that just make me more sick? They said well yes most likely but you need to do that or eat mean. LOVELY.

This is my first pregnancy and I have HG. Thankfully I am in week 30 1/2. I do stil vomit occasionally but the vomiting has slowed down. It drives me crazy because most women don't understand how complicated HG is. I hope i don't have it in my next pregnancy.

I am 11 weeks pregnant and had no idea about Hyperemesis till this pregnancy when at like 6 or 7 weeks I ended up in the ER dehydrated and nauseous all day long. I take Zofran 8 mg 3 times a day. Used to be less but it seems like the further I get along with this pregnancy my nausea gets worse and then the Zofran doesn't want to seem to work much anymore. Atleast I am eating and drinking more then I used to but honestly I think I should be eating more still then I do. Normal morning sickness ends usually around 12 weeks. Why can't mine just go away? I stay at home all day everyday pretty much.I am actually a stay at home mom but I am not as active as I am usually. I just want to be back to my normal self. I never went through this in my first pregnancy. My first was a perfect pregnancy. This one is total opposite. Well atleast right now I can already pretty much feel the baby moving. That keeps me alive. Shocked I can feel the baby this early already. Feels good. Keeps me motivated to keep my head up!
