Since I work in a similar field, I would definitely file a complaint. There is NO excuse for that sort of unprofessionalism. If someone were unhappy with my work, I'd want to know about it. I don't care HOW bad my mood is, I'm always nice as pie to my clients...no matter what!

Oh, Kathy I would have definitely complained! Especially since she made you bleed and totally cut too much off your length when you told her exactly what you wanted!

I think that you should have spoken to the manager/supervisor. You don't have to be a mega bitch or anything (if you don't want to lol) but the salon has a right to know that she's obviously not very good & you're probably not the first customer she's screwed up on. She might need more training, maybe she's just new? Either way if she's shit at hairstyling then she should have someone watching her until she gets better or whatever they do otherwise they'll be losing a fair few customers. As for her being rude, there is no need for it so I would DEFINATELY say something about that.

Me , being me .
Would have gave her no tip , stopped as soon as she cut me .
Talk to the manager , and say "I thought y'all are suppose to be professionals ?"

I would not return , & I would tell others about my horrible experience , & how they did nothing about it .

No tip and I would have told her why! I also would have called her manager to complain.

im a hairstylist. Im guessing this girl was really nervous or she was having a bad day. Its really easy for us to forget that people have their upper ears peirced, becausewere so focused on cutting the hair and getting it right. Im deff guilty of combing the peircings. Sounds to me, like she was just really trying tofocus and she was nervous.Esp if she started apologizing. I would deff b easy on her. As far as showing her a pic, everyone has like diff hair types..thick, thin, course, unruly...sometimes because of those factors, its really hard to get something to look like a pic. I would give your haircut the two week test. The difference between a good and bad haircut is two weeks. You guys should be easy on hairstylist, cuz were just human too. Like we have familys to support too. And not everyone is a great hairstylist. Its a risk you take. Im guessing shes prob just out of beauty school. Let me tell you that was horrifying at first. Your still figuring things out, learning how to use products...But the only way they learn is too practice, and even to make mistakes....Thank god that hair grows.

I completely understand all of that, but would you give an attitude if you made a mistake? I'm a makeup artist, and I've had actresses in my chair jump around all over the place, and I've gotten them in the eye with a brush before. Even though it was entirely their fault, I'm still the one who has to apologize, because they're the client. Believe me, I know all about pressure, lol. Even as long as I've been doing this, some high-maintenance diva gets in my chair, and it's terrifying.

I would want to know if someone left my chair unhappy for sure.

C im not like that at all. I treat people with respect but I expect it in return. Im deff not a kiss ass and yet im booked weeks in advance,,,so, to each their own. I just think you guys are being a bit harsh, Im realistic, it sounds to me like she was nervous. Esp is she was proud of herself for not combing the ear. She sounds human to me...

I voted to call the supervisor/file a complaint.  The supervisor should then apologize profusely, plus offer the free cut/style & products for your next visit.  It is tricky, because you go to that salon regularly, so you do not want to cause a big scene by making demands while there, because you (I assume) want to go back and still see your regular stylist.

I had a situation where I went to get my hair cut, and I had pictures.  I had different angles of the cut, it was from a hair magazine.  It had INSTRUCTIONS for how to do the cut. It wasn't even all that complicated, it was just shoulder length (like just past shoulders) and layered, however I wanted to be sure that the girl got it right...well, the FIRST cut she made was on the side and it was right below my ear!  I did not handle it as well as I advised you to, I sat there and watched her chop my hair all off (it was mid back and she cut it up by my EAR?! nuts!) and then I proceeded to cry.  The supervisor did not have me pay, but did make excuses for the girl ("well, she's still new").  Seriously..if someone is new, and too new to do their job, they should not be working unsupervised.

I would file a complaint in a tactful manner.
How will she ever learn if she is never confronted, you know?

Don't you think, though, that ifyou are having such a bad day that it will make you BAD at your job, that you should maybe not work that day?  Especially in a field where you really need to be building a clientele, and your skills in cut/style AND customer service count toward how much money you make (in repeat customers AND tips).  Also remembering that bad publicity travels SO fast, women will tell all of their relatives and friends to never go to Stylist X because of 1 bad experience...I would just think that a stylist would go out of his/her way to be the BEST at their job every single day.

I wouldn't consider myself a "kiss-ass" by any means. I just think if you're having a bad day, you don't take it out on your clients. We're all human, we all make mistakes, but Kathy should have left the salon happy.  I always make sure everyone leaves my chair satisfied. That's a huge part of our job.

call and complain also ask for your money back my MIL is a manager for a hair cuttery around the area and if someone complains they give the money back and offer for someone else to fix your hair for free. Obviously this girl still needs training and if she doesn't get it she could mess up a lot of people's hair!
