Early Maternity Leave?

Have any of you ladies been able to easily convince your OB to give you an early maternity leave?
I was planning on working until I was 36w5D (I will be having my baby at 39 weeks exactly via CSection)
But now I would REALLY like to take it starting no later than 34 weeks.
I'm not worried about getting the pay any earlier, or anything like that. But due to somethings that happened at work over this last week, I feel it is best for me to take my leave sooner rather than later. I wound up crying for 3 hours the other day over things one of my customers said to me, and then the manager didn't help things out by jumping in my face and screaming at me like I was a little puppy who peed on the carpet.

Anyone have any tips on how I can convince my OB into an early leave?

tell your OB the truth, that your work is stressing you out and you don't feel the need to be there anymore. I'm not sure if it's different in the states but in Canada they'd let me take my leave when I'm ready to.. stress isn't good for you or the baby. Plus it's probably up to the individual OB. So if they see this as something important they will be more likely to listen to your request.

Agreed. In Ontario you can legally start your maternity leave 17 weeks before the baby's due date.. no questions asked. You retain your job and all benefits of being employed.
