potty training your 19 month toddler

posted 6th Jul
I going to star potty training my 19 month toddler. To all u moms that have experience in this field have any good tips or ideas   This week I'm going to buy her a potty and undies. How should I explain to her what to do in the potty? when ever she has to poop she tells me "popo" and holds her but .She points to the adult toilet and says popo so she knows but how do i get her to use it? I try to sit her on it, but no luck she hates it, maybe she feels as if she might fall in, I don't know.

Try getting a book like everybody poops or pref. one with a video. Also check out the pull ups site they have a ton of tips there. If you buy a box of pull ups it comes with a free potty training dvd I did not potty train my daughter my mother did and from what I am told boys are easier I wish I could offer some more info but like I said I have only potty trained my 2 boys. But it sounds to me like she is ready to go. Get her feel n learn pull ups before panties because if she has an accident that will not be a pretty sight they have Disney Princess Pull Ups for the girls

My son was not easy!  The best advice I can give is not to waste money on pull ups. They feel just like diapers to a child(even the feel and learnkinds). When you start, start right away with actual underwear. If she is truly ready to be trained, it will only take a couple of days before she stops going in them all the time. Yes, it makes more work for you, but it allows her to experience the discomfort of having an accident, and ultimately makes the process shorter. It sounds like she is in the beginning stages, but if you try for a few days and she doesn't seem to be grasping it, stop and wait a week, then try again. A book is a good idea because it helps thme to better understand the idea. If you don't already, start taking her to the bathroom with you, and explain to her what you are doing. It does sound like she may be afraid of the regular toilet, which is completely normal, so a potty chair may help, or you can get a potty seat like thisthat fits the toilet (they have other designs you can get them in too).
Here is a great resource with a lot of information regarding potty training, and things you as the parent should try to avoid:
