Cervix Dialation ? from earlier

I know someone posted about checking their own cervixs a few minutes ago, and Alot of her respones where it isnt to safe...but I was wondering if it isnt safe to check your own cervix with a finger then how could it be safe to have sex? and by having sex could that throw you into labor? Just cirrious, started wondering!

Yeah sex can throw you into labor which is great at the very end. Since I'm dilated at 1cm and only 32 weeks we're no longer allowed to have sex  
I think the unsafe part comes from people with dirty hands that have been touching things all day or scratching things with dirty finger nails. I tried anyway

I dunno...I tried checking myself...but I felt something hard which can only be the baby's head...my doctor's felt it too so I dunno how the hell she checks my cervix. But I had sex w/ my fiance last Wednesday and it definitely kick started something!! No baby yet tho...   sorry I'm not much of a help

My doctor says there's nothing wrong with sticking your hand up there to feel around, as long as your fingers are clean and you're gentle. She actually encourages it... It's no worse than having sex.

The thing is, most of us aren't used to feeling cervixes and we don't really know what we're feeling around for. So I doubt we could accurately assess our own progress or anything.

But if you feel your own cervix enough, you'd at least be able to feel it change and get some sense of progression.

how do u know uve dialiated by js feeling? how could u tell?

BUT do not try at 9 weeks.
The reasonI say dont do it is because it can cause infection.
Yes, sex can bring on labor. Not as early as you though. So, sex it up as much as you'd like. lol

Technically you can't. Your doctor can.
