Baby shower question!

Do you think that giving people 2 weeks notice is not enough for a very informal BBQ/Baby shower? We basically just want to have a small get together to celebrate our daughter & give our friends and family the opportunity to give gifts if they would like.

MIL wanted to throw one for us but we have been having a difficult time getting any info from her about her availability & now she says the only weekends she has available are July 19th & Aug 2nd. I really was hoping to do it July 26th, but she has something planned that day I suppose. Unfortunately, I can't request time off in August (except to deliver my baby) because it's a black-out month at my work & they need all employees to be available to work. So it looks like we will be doing it July 19th.

Do you think that's enough notice to give people? Remember, it's incredibly informal & we really aren't expecting much in the way of gifts.

I think so... If you want you could do E-Vites.... So it'd be quicker than the mail. Or hand deliver your invatations. My stepsister did that

Thanks! I've been stressing about it because I definitely want to do something like a babyshower, but I was so worried that it just wouldn't be enough time for people. It's going to be small so hand delivering invites will be a breeze.

We sent our invitations out w/about a 2 1/2 week notice. We invited around 40 people and 34 have already RSVP!! We are doing a BBQ too! YUMMY!!   Stupid weather channel keeps changing the forcast from rain to sunny!!   It better not rain! lol
