Vegetarian?

Anyone else have a toddler that just does not like meat? Colin's nearly 18 months now, he loves vegetables, he loves fruits, he loves breads, dairy, nuts, pasta, but he just shows no interest in meat.

I know my little brother was the same way. But he was also protein intolerant when he was born. He now eats all meats in smaller portions. It might be something he grows out of but if not im sure everything will be fine either way.

Better for him anyway. Just make sure he gets protein, iron, and calcium and he's good.

My daughter refuses to eat any type of meat other than chicken. She doesn't like pasta or bread.

She loves vegetables, fruits, nuts, and dairy products such as cheese and yogurt.

Her doctor said that if she keeps up her eating habits she will have to take a supplement due to the lack of protein.

My nephew didn't and still doesn't at 6 years old, they give him whey protein shakes instead. he doesn't like the consistency of meat or eggs. He will eat the heck out of some bread, pasta and veggies. It might have something to do with his Autism though, consistency and sensory stimulation are a big thing for him.

My son has never been much of a meat eater either. He will occasionally have a hamburger or hot dog, and he does eat chicken. My mom thinks that I need to cook him steaks(or roast &stuff like that) and make him eat it and she's always criticizng me for that. I just don't eat those things, and I sure don't cook them. He eats peanut butter, beans and cheese and other things that have protein and hes healthy, so I'm not really worried about it.

He enjoys the other sources of protein, which is good.

Thats how my daughter was until just recently. She would not eat meat. But about 3 wks ago she started eating meat and we were surprised. She will be 2 in about a wk. So it could always change for you.

We keep trying every few days, so far no luck, but we'll keep trying and maybe it will change as he ages.

Either way, looks like he's not alone so that's good.

heh

I'm trying to avoid meat with Lily.
I know there are plenty of other ways to give her protein...

I would LOVE to keep her a vegetarian, but it's getting harder to do. She doesn't seem to care for legumes...
Anyone knowany good vegi baby food brands?

I know I don't have toddlers lol but I am the result of paren'ts who never "made" me eat different things. Now...28 years later I am the pickiest person I know. I would keep up with the meat

Yeah, my 5-year-old didn't like any kind of meat at all until he was about two and a half... at which point he suddenly developed an almost freakish love for fish of all kinds, including hardcore sushi and weird pickled fish in tins from Europe that my husband eats.

For health reasons, we don't do a lot of meat. My children have meat only occasionally. On a regular basis, for protein, they have eggs, beans, nuts and nut butters, and sometimes veggie meats (soy) or cheese. They're not very big on meat. They'll eat it if we give it to them, but they don't ask for it.

Dane really isn't a fan of meat either. But he loves veggies, grains, beans and fruits so I am not too worried. He will eat chicken so sometimes he gets that but I am not too worried about it.

And you are still nursing so he's still getting that benefit from you too. I wouldn't be concerned.
