when can a baby eat chocolate

my step mom wanted to make aeris's birthday cake and made it the marble swirl with chocolate and vanilla...but shes never had chocolate before and i wanted to know if 1 years old is too young..?

No 1 year is fine. I know plenty of babies who had chocolate cake for their first birthday. My daughter had chocolate at about 8 months   lol.

my son's had a little chocolate here and there. And ice cream.. he's almost 10 months old and has tastes of things. You may want to give her a little sample to make sure she's not alergic before she eats the cake if you have any people alergic in your family.

She's a girl so she's predisposed to loving chocolate, right? So let her go at it. My kids all had their first chocolate by 6 months. They have aunts who thought it was funny to see my baby eating chocolate and getting all kinds of messy and addicted to it. lol

ask your Ped. My baby had chocolate at 6 months but we were in Germany at the time and the baby cereal had chocolate flakes on there. Plus there are no allergies in my family.

and aeris was tested for allergies,....so far just peanuts and eggs....not chocolate....and my step mom made sure there were no peanuts at all..and doc said she CAN have eggs that it wont kill her just irritate her ezcema

yeah yesterday I was eating M and M's and she is like a puppy (my daughter), came crawling towards me, begging for me to give her one. So I bit one in half and hid the bag behind me. Then I spoke to my hubby who was in the room and he points out "umm what is she eating off the floor?"

the ENTIRE bag fell on the floor, she was eating them with no problem.

now I have to hide my sercret lover (which is chocolate) from her now lol.

ha i wont say when my mom gave kaylee her first taste of chocolete (dont want to be told im a bad parent) but she loves it and has no problem.. just VERY MESSY! lol

our babies have the same name  .

and my nephew had an all chocolate cake at 1 year, so i assume its fine :]

Oh honey, I can't even remember how old Jacob was. He was eating baby food at 3 months..
It's OKAY to let your baby try stuff. That's how they learn. As long as it's nothing that could potentially hurt them, it's usually fine. If you're not sure, don't do it.
Mother's instinct is ALWAYS best!

kaylee doesnt have food allergies besides grapes.. which gives her an awful diaper rash.. ie grape juice etc.. but i remember getting so mad at my mom when kaylee was 2 weeks she dipped her binky in gravy!

Both of my boys had chocolate by the time they were a year old. I always gave them a little before their birthday so I was sure they would do okay with it.
