What does your 10-month old eat?

posted 5th Jul
First off, my daughter is still trying to cut her first tooth, so she essentially has no teeth still. Not that they really chew with their teeth at this point anyway. She also would rather play with finger foods than self feed. So other than jar food and my occasional table foods like potatoes and other finely mashed things, she won't eat anything.

I've tried those fruit puff things and she choked on it and threw up. That was so terrifying I am scared to try it or anything similar to it again. So I have been breaking them into smaller pieces and getting them soggy with water before giving them to her. I am curious if I'm just trying too hard to push table foods or if she really is a picky eater. I guess I am just worrying because she wont eat much in the way of snacks or finger foods. I still have to spoon feed her and she is getting very bored with it.

So my question is, OTHER than breastmilk/formula, what does/did your 10 month old eat?

And what suggestions/recipes can you share with me?

sorry so long......

Oh and I forgot to mention that the jar food she eats is only stage 2, as she refuses/spits out anything in stage 3.

I probably shouldn't answer because my son will be 10 months in 6 days - and he eats just about anything that looks like it might be food. I found a good one he never turned down was yogurt. Loves yogurt. And as far as finger foods - try toast with jam (make it really dry and then it just sort of crumbles) and cheese are favorites. He loves the puffs - especially those "crunchie" ones that look more like cheezies, but they are vegetable and tomato I think (???) and also rice cakes, just the plain ones.

No every response is welcome! I think I might try those veggie puffs you mentioned. I just worry about her throwing up again. Thanks!

My son was just starting to eat a little table food. He started with graham crackers because they get really soft quickly. I also gave him the fruit puffs and he did way with them as well. He only maybe had 1 tooth. I just started slowly. He has 2 teeth now and eats a lot more stuff. He eats diced peaches/pears/mangrine(sp) oranges, crackers, toast, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, mashed/baked potatoes, baked sweet potatos, and everything that i feel comfortable giving. He is really not on meat yet.

My daughter had a few teeth by 10 months.

She ate half of whatever was on my plate until I introduced Gerber Graduates food that month. (She could inhale several containers of baby food and not get full). She finally got full off Gerber Graduate food.

My niece is 7 months old and eats pretty much the same thing my 1yr old daughter eats. She can gum up cherioos, and wants to eat whatever Hailey eats. She also eats Gerber Graduate foods but someone has to cut it up into smaller pieces for her. (she has no teeth yet).

Hailey is now 1yr old and still eats gerber graduate foods, baby food fruit (I still have some in the cabinet), gerber graduate snacks, cherioos, cheese chunks,toast.. She will try almost anything I put in front of her.

I believe that your baby will tell you what they want to eat when they want to eat. Khym almost always refuses anything we have to feed him (ie baby food, mashed potatoes, soup, ie) the only thing he'll let us feed him is Yogurt. Otherwise he has to be able to feed himself it and it has to be soft/easily mushable/water soluable(disintigrating). Well cooked carrots for example, basically things that aren't so likely for him to choke on. when ever we're eating anything else (ie Beef Jerky) he get's Cheerios, Gerber Puffs, or toast/bread just to try and keep him from trying to get our's so hard. But he didn't even want cereal until around 5 months(the rest of my family was ravenous for it before 3 months), and then went straight past the Jar food's. Often still eats his Cereal but not the Jar's. Oh and he has 2 teeth with more on the way.

Kieran is 10months next week, has 6 teeth and from what I seen tonight, 2 more coming any day now! I agree with you - he started ceral at 3.5months with the docs premission even though few others agreed. From there he began to eat EVERYTHING! If we eat it, he wants it, especially in resturants. Our glory moment? Just before he turned 8 months we went to lunch with my mom. It was a buffet. She needs to be around kids more because she put the plate right in his reach. He grabbed a chicken wing (the drumette type). She asked if he could have it, I said "try to take it away". I thought he wouldn't get anything off of it anyway, no big deal. Well, he picked it clean and grabbed another from her plate. From then on, anything goes

His other favorite is the dry ribs with the big bones in the middle (so they are to big to fit all the way in his mouth). I know - my sons diet is a health nurses worst nightmare! Don't get me wrong though - he doesn't get crap at home, only when are out or at other peoples places. I'm the boring mom with the healthy snacks lol!

Warren is almost 11 months(in 1 week)
CARBS & GRAINS:Mac n Cheese. Dry toast. Plain pasta in fun shapes. Graduates crackers. Rice. Grits. Oatmeal. Rice Cereal.

FRUITS: Bananas in little chunks. Jarred bananas. Grapes cut into quarters. Mashed pears.Fresh shreaded mango.Slices of Tomato. Watermelon(seedless of course) Cantoloupe.

DAIRY: Mild cheddar cheese crumbles. VERY small amounts of whole milk in his mashed potatoes.

MEATS, BEANS & PROTEINS: Egg yolks. Smashed lima beans. Occasionally tofu. Chicken in VERY little pieces.

VEGGIES: Jarred or whole peas. Jarred green beans. Sweet potatoes. Potatoes with a little whole milk to soften with just a pinch of salt.

NO SWEETS.

He really isnt very interested in jarred baby foods any more. He has been trying foods from our plates in little bites and he is loving it!I'm not going to start him on full on table food until 12 months.

Wow! Thats very helpful! I guess I'm not too far behind then. I could easily see Katelyn eating those things in a month, as she is already eating lots of that.

How do you cook your egg yolks? Do you add anything to it or just scramble it up by itself?
