food poisoning during pregnancy?

Has anyone had food poisoning during pregnancy? If so, what happened?

because i think i might have food poisoning  

I had gotten sick 7 times in two months, I would feel like I needed to throw up and sometimes I would, plus I would spend all night on the toilet *tmi* until I got all the food out of my system, it took about 24 hours and once it passed I felt much better. I thought it was food poisoning until I kept getting it, turns out it's my gallbladder so I stopped eating greasy foods and I haven't been sick since. Hope you get better

thanks its either that or preterm labor signs because i ate something last night from out of the country some type of wrap i just dont know what it could be besides that or preterm labor

what signs are you having?

If you have been having contractions and can't keep any liquid down, I would go into L & D they can give you stuff for being dehdrated, If you are dehdrated that can cause contractions as well. I would go in and see what they can do for you

Most food poisoning does not affect your baby. The exception to this would be listeria which could be dangerous to your lil one but this is rare and it usually takes a longer timeframe to show up - but if you are concerned your doc could do a blood test to ease your mind. Most likely you will just have to deal with the crappy symptoms and make sure you do not get dehydrated... I had bad food poisoning from Applebees when I was prego with my son. He was fine but I felt like hell!! Good luck!

i just got over some dang food poisoning. suuuuuuucked.
i had to go to the hospital because i couldnt keep any liquids down: not water, not pedialyte, not even emetrol.
but it didnt affect my baby at all though. 
you just could get dehydrated really easily if you cant keep liquids down.

I had food poisoning. It sucked, but it didn't cross the placenta to the baby. I puked all night and felt like dirt. But my doctor said that as long as I could keep SOME water down, I was better off staying at home making my husband baby me a bit. LoL!

now im getting nervous because they didnt do any tests at the hospital to make sure my baby was ok... they just told me she was.
did they do any tests to see if it crossed the placenta or did they just tell you that...?
i was out of town when mine happened somy doctor didnt get to take care of me... but i have an appointment on friday. i guess i should ask.

No, they told me I puked it all out before my body had the chance to send it to her. No tests, it just doesn't stay in the body long enough to get passed along. Once my digestive system got an idea of what was happening, I was on my knees praying for death.

ok thats good to know. they didnt tell me anything other than "baby looks great" and i didnt think to ask.

I had it during my 5th month and let me tell you if you probably don't. Myself and my husband both got it at the same time and I just remember being very weak and constantly throwing up to the point where Iwas forced to spend the night inL&D to get me hydrated. There is a major difference in mornign sickness and food poisoning. Since I had morning sickness with my first and it lasted all the way up until my 7th month.
