episiotomy & sex.....

I had my little man on the 26th and had to get cutttttt! Well I ended up with 7 stitches, 4 outside, 3 inside. I just wanted to know from other moms that had an episiotomy, how long did you wait to have sex and how bad did it hurt??? 

well i tore on my own and had sex for the first time since birth and lets just say we did not finish...  such intense pain!! worse than my first time ever!

After going to my 6 pp check up, the doc said it was fine to have sex. But it hurt alot. It probably wasen't until I was 2-3 months pp that it felt good. Just take it slooooow and use LOTS of lube... it will save you! Trust me!! lol

Oh man, my sons only 9 days old. So I'm obviously not thinking about doing it anytime soon...I just hear all these horror stories! nobody has a good one!!

im alllllomst 3 mnths pp and it still hurts! sometimes we cant finish.........it does get better towards the end if that makes sense

i think we tried between 6-7wks, and it hurt like hell, tried again at 8 1/2 wks, the same, went to the doctor because it was still hurting and bleeding when i went #2 (tmi i know) they said that the area was just sensitive, and if i would or get him to massage the area lightly twice a day it would help with the healing process because it would help the area stop being so sensitive to touch... well it helped but... to this day it still hurts going potty...  

Well, I waited until my stitches(I had 22 stitches)healed completely before I even thought about having sex. When my fiance and I did have sex for the first time after having the baby, it hurt, it was just like losing my virginity again, but it wasn't too bad.

I am one of the lucky ones, haha. I had one stitch and that was from a tear. I waited a week and it felt great. I never had any pain.

i had a sever epise w/my son and waited 6 weeks. It hurt for a long time. I tore even worse w/my daughter, waited 9 weeks and it was competley fine.

I had c-sections, nut when I worked for my ob as her medical assistant, we told women not to have sex until they were completely healed and felt ready. The chance of infection is so great in that area that I wouldn't chance it until it was all the way healed an all the stitches were gone.

I would recommend waiting until your midwife/ob checks you out. It would suck getting your stitches ripped   My midwife gave me the goahead at 4weeks PP. It hurt like hell. My stitches were gone but it fell like he was gonna rip me

Oh...you did get lucky! Lol I had to have an episiotomy(22 stitches)otherwise Ravyn wasn't going to come out! Lol With William(he's my youngest) I didn't have to have stitches, thank goodness, but sex still hurt a little bit the first time after I had him.

those 2 words sound horrible together

I know that was painful. My mother had 27 stitches with me and she was in a lot of pain for a long time. I felt great after I had the baby, I walked around like normal right after, like nothing had happened. The only thing that hurt (and still does) is my back where I had the epi. Some days it hurts where I have trouble getting out of bed.

I know how your mother felt. It really did suck. I didn't have any drugs with either of my boys...with Ravyn, I didn't need them, and with William, I was begging for drugs but they wouldn't giveany to me because I was sitting at 3cm, than jumped straightto 10cm in a matter of 5 minutes. It sucked. Ironically enough, my labour with Ravyn was 31 hours long and I was fine,mylabour with William was 4 1/2 hours long and I thought I was going to die! Lol
I don't think they do epidurials where I am, unless you are getting a c-section.
I heard that having an epi done hurts.
