now I'm curious about baby's weight

How do the doctors estimate the baby's weight? Is that only by ultrasound?
Apparently my uterus is measuring 2 1/2 weeks ahead and stangers keep telling me I am going to have a big baby one lady guessed 4 pounds already and another lady said 5 -6 pounds already... obviously shes a little off (thats what I weighed full term 5 lbs 13 oz.) The ticker this week says 2 pds but everyone tells we they think shes bigger. I don't know if I am going to have another ultrasound, so I guess I wanted to know if the dr could tell?

I donno, at the ultrasound they told me the baby is a pound, so she's at like average size. I don't think there's any other way for them to actually figure out EXACTLY how much baby weighs.

And besides, my friend ended up having a C-Section bcuz the ultrasound said the baby was 9 & some odd lbs. so he was refusing to come out on his own... Turns out the baby was 10.5 lbs!!!

ultra sounds can be way way off.. they told my friend she was having a 7 lb baby and he was 5lb 10 oz... and many many other stories to go along with hers.. sometimes they are right.. but most of the time they're wrong.. you'll just have to wait

All they can give is an estimate, it's not acurate. My doc just felt my belly and told me he thought he would be around 8lbs. My son weighed 8lbs and 1oz. They gave me an estimate through an ultrasound with my daughter and estimated around 6 1/2 to 7lbs. She was also 8lbs 1oz. I barely weighed 5lb at birth and both my children took after their father and were much larger.

you still have a lot of time to go. size of a belly doesnt always reflect the size of a baby.

im due on thurs and they told me hes 8pds. im hoping they are wrong! lol.

I kept getting ultrasounds becauseshe was measuring too small by 2 weeks and they changed my due date, but by my third trimester my uterus was measuring too large by a week and they did another ultrasound. She came out7lbs 8oz. They had me all worried for nothing! lol
