I was 7 days pp but I have a friend who went straight out from the hospital to do some shopping and errands and stuff. I think it's just as soon as you feel up to it.

I took my son out after a week and since I already had another kid with second I took her out earlier because I couldn't keep my son in the house. It depends on the weather but if it decent you can definetly go for walks the fresh air will be good for the baby! The air that is in our homes is actually very dirty!

with my oldest I didn't take her out until she was almost 4 weeks but it was because I was scared cuz she had spent almost 2 weeks in NICU...my youngest I don't remember exactly but it was pretty soon...she was more likely to catch something fom all the kids running in my house rather than WalMart anyways...also my doctor told me that if you have a healthy baby at birth that they don't recommend keeping them locked up for too long because when they finally do go out they much more likely to get sick...

LOL According to my MIL, you shouldn't take a baby out for SIX WEEKS!!

WTF, Talk about CABIN FEVER!!!

My son was in NICU for 4 weeks, but as soon as he was out, we took him with us everywhere we went- shopping + he had many doc appointments for follow ups before he was even 6 weeks.

I HATE MIL'S!!!!!!!

5 days old..she was on oxygen.. But we had things to do.. WIC,pick up husband's paycheck, pick up stuff at walmart that was needed..

After spending 4 days in the hospital..I was MORE than ready to get out and do something. I was sore..but so happy to have FRESH air.. I was getting depressed staying in the hospital and fresh air and being home did WONDERS for me

I first took Mason out when he was a week old. I was getting way too ancy sitting in the house for so long! I could not imagine having to wait 6 weeks to take him out!   It's good for them to get some fresh air too so as long as they are healthy I don't see a problem with them going out that young as long as no one trys to come up and be all up in their face lol

I always took her every where I went. I first took her out when she was 1 week and at 2 weeks she had her first road trip to NJ! To meet the family! She's a healthy baby! She's 2 months and she still goes everywhere with me.

Dorian was 4 days old when my mom took him out for a walk. He was 9 days old when we moved from Boston to Nantucket island (70 miles drive and a 2 hour boat ride) It was traumatic for hubby and I, but Dorian loved the drive and the boat ride. Up to this day (he is 3 mo old) the minute I put him in the car seat he falls asleep right away!
