re: Quick question..

We went to Meijer the night we left the hospital.  Then when she was a few days old we took her for her pedi app.  Then for a weight check.  I kept her in until she was a week old other than that because it was winter and I'm a germophobe.  We took her out when we had places to go.  We went to my parents and MIL's before that as well.  
It's all up to you and how comfortable you are taking your baby out.  Babies with health problems often need to stay in for longer.  Just go with your gut, it's usually right.
