re: Switching to Big Car Seat...

Sounds like a plan. I hope Cassie makes the adjustment well. Our little babies are getting so big. Makes me happy and sad too.

Thx girls!

Gabriel made the adjustment pretty well, he loves all the new space he has! The only problem is the carseat is HUGE and hubby's car is on the littler side.

Yeah... Julia is just shy of the length on her carseat. We're getting a convertable, though... she's only 15 lbs. (She's a skinny minnie! But I DOOOO feed her. She goes between baby food and "big people" food, depending on what we're eating. But ANYWAYS!) Yeah... if she's too long or whatever, then I would think the state would frown upon her still being in the seat. *shrug*. I dunno. ( I just checked, and all Mississippi requires is that under 4, they have to be in a carseat, and I think if they're under 4'9", they have to be in a booster seat.)

Hailey was 6 months and 18 months when she moved into a convertible and continued to face rear .

My neighbor moved her little boy from a infant seat to FORWARD facing at 6 months . He was the weight to be facing forward (according to seat limits) but not the age..but she felt it was for the best. He is almost 18 months old now.

Hailey is 3 days away from being 13 months old and still rear facing in my vehicle although she is 22lbs and could be turned around.

Never heard of a law saying that baby had to be in a baby seat until they outgrew it, but each state is different.. Oklahoma says they have to be in an approved carseat until they are 6 or 7yrs old.

You must move her if she has less then 1 inch of hard shell above her head or hits the weight limit. It is not illigal to use a convertible car seat as long as she is withing the weight limits and she is rear facing. Yes car seats exp after 6 years. It should tell you on your seat when it exp if it does not then call the company and they can tell you.

Even if it's a convertible seat?  Nathan has been in the convertible seat, rear facing, since he was about 3 months old.  I hated the infant carrier

We moved Kieran at 3 months as well. I couldn't carry it anymore! He was 12.5 lbs (and 27 inches), plus the carrier was about 10 lbs - it was just to heavy, and it was much easier to get him into the convertiable seat rear facing then to leave the carrier in the car and keep taking him out of that.

I am so glad you like that one, because I just ordered that for Robbie! Hopefully it fits in the back of my Focus.

I switched Robbie almost a month ago to a convertible car seat (that I hate!) when he was a little less than 4 months old. He was also too long for his infant car seat, the shoulder straps did not fit like they should at the highest setting so I switched over. It is a little awkward since the seat I got sits so upright (which is why I bought another one that reclines more) but otherwise it is perfectly safe. I am sure it is safer than seating him in a seat that is too small for him, even though he did not reach the weight limit.

I have that same seat and it fits in my focus. I love this seat. I had 2 other seats before this one hated them both. Which seat did you have that you hate. You can see a picture of my daughter in hers in my about me.

I am glad ot hear that! Does it fit in the middle of your back seat? The seat I have now wouldn't for some reason and so it had to be installed on one side or the other. The one I have now is a Safety 1st model, I forget the model name. It is black and grey though, and I hate it! It doesn't really fit in my car right, so it is not entirely level and it doesn't recline nearly enough so I always feel like my son is uncomfortable in it. I had it checked by a car seat specialist and he said it was safe but I still hate it. It'll be going in my husbands truck when the Triumph comes in.

I put it in the middle seat. This one is very easy to install and use. The recline is very nice. Is this the seat you had.

Mine is exactly like that except I don't think it has a cup holder. It is a crappy seat for a younger baby, though I think it'll be okay when he gets older. That's why we're putting it in my husband's truck because Robbie rarely rides with him.

Thats what I had but in pink. The only way to get a good angle is to put 3 peices of a pool noddle under it. I made babies r us take them back and I switch the Evenflo between our truck and my car. we have one more car the fousc and I put the evenflo in it when she rides in it (its not very often i got a new suv a few mos back). the fosuc used to have the infant seat she did not outgrow it untill 16 mos. I had one that was bigger then the rest
