Quoting Andrew Jordan's mommy:“ If you dont mind my asking. Why did he have it done? How old is he now?”

He had severe reflux and keep getting aspriation pnemonuia (sorry I know that is spelled wrong) the year he turned three we was in the hospital for six months with him being sick and he went for almost 50lbs to 15lbs and they told us that we had no choice that it was do the surgery or we were going to lose him. That was three years ago he is six now and doing really well.

Since October. If I don't put a gauze pad on her then it gets really red and sore. She has never had to have that abcess (sp?) burned off with the siver nitrate so I guess it doesn't hurt. I am so glad to hear that your son is doing so much better! He is really a cutie pie!!!!

Drew was doing the same thing. We actually almost lost him at 3 weeks because he aspirated and choked. My mom had to do cpr on him. He was having severe bradycardiacs and apnea spells. So they did it at 2 1/2months. I think you said he still has the g tube. Does he still eat with it?

Yeah he only eats by the tube nothing by mouth. The doctors don't feel comfortable with him eating by mouth. I guess he will always eat by the tube. Which until he gets better head and neck control and is able to hold his head up on his own I wouldn't feel comfortable feeding him anything by mouth I would be afraid that he would choke on it.

Thank you. Yeah Bryson has had to have the siver nitrate stuff done a few times. His gets red and stuff when we change his tube but most of the time it's good.

I'm so glad we don't have to go in to have that stuff done anymore but I don't guess it hurts them. Your littel guy is adorable.

I was just reading your post about having g-tube problems.. I will tell you I know exactly what you are going through, and here's my advice.... My daughter Lily got a g-tube put in when she was 6 months old they automatically started her on continuous feeds which I hated but not knowing any different just went along with. Let me back up for one second she got the g-tube because she got pneumonia twice and they finally found out it was because she was aspirating. So she went from eating like any typical baby to being on a continuous tube feeding. If I were you I would talk to the Dr. about trying to do bolus feeds oppose to continuous during the day then maybe at night putting her on continuous the reason I say this is because Lily was on the continuous for about 7 months then when we had finally had all we could stand of being stuck with her on a tube all the time we asked the Dr. about going over to continuous well.. now that her stomach has gotten use to continuous we are having a hard time getting her to take the bolus feeds.. she cries, retches, and gets severe gas.. so the transition alone isn't worth putting a baby on continuous unless absolutely necessary. We are now having to feed her 2 ounces once every other hour just so she doesn't have a tube connected to her all day long... and its a pain feeding so often but we are just going to have to slowly but surely get her back to where she can eat like 8 ounces 3 or 4 times a day.. or whatever.. but that's going to take a yr. to just get back to that point.. its just not worth all the hassle to be on continuous! As for your babies weight gain.. have they told you anything about polycose? Its basically just a powder that you add to the formula that gives it extra calories.. its worth trying. And gas and constipation problems are a problem I'm also all to familiar with.. In our case Lily was getting a formula called Alimentum so we finally discovered after so many months of problems that SOY MILK did the trick for her.. I would also recommend trying it. We also substitute one ounce of pear juice instead of water... just so I don't confuse you ...when making 2 ounces of formula you usually use 2 ounces of water and 1 scoop of formula well instead of using the 2 ounces of water I would only use one ounce of water then one ounce of pear juice then put the scoop of formula and it did the trick! Within a couple days she was poopin... I never thought I could be so excited to change a poopy diaper!! Last but no least for gas.. I'm sure they showed you how to "vent" with the g-tube to let gas out.. Just do it when needed, my Dr's told me to try to do it as less as possible for whatever reason... but when it relieves a screaming baby I do it when she needs it.... we also just stared using these "Hylands Colic Tablets" I just put 2 tablets in her milk every time I feed her, and they seem to be helping some. They are over the counter as well... I found them at Babies R Us. Well sorry I typed so much but I just wanted to get it all out there and help. Write me if you have any questions in case I didn't make sense on anything.

Did you little one have the fundo done? That is one thing I had going with Andrew he could nipple real well. We only had to use the g tube to burp him. When it got pulled out before we could get the mickey bottom they just left it out. I hear that babies do have problems with eating if they have a g tube and are on continuous feeds.
