head-lifting and rolling over

posted 4th Jul
Besides the fact that Jaedyn is my first child and the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen in my whole life, I've been rather amazed about a couple of things and am curious what the 'norm' is.

Jaedyn was lifting and moving her head the very day she was born. Granted, it was without cgood ontrol, but she caused a bit of a stir with the nursery staff. I've not had personal experience with this, but had presumed that she wouldn't lift her head until much later. By 3 weeks, she had rolled over 3 times: the second time so shocked me that I rolled her back over on her tummy and she did it again. She's 6 weeks now and has gained better control of her neck, but still does the 'tomahawk' a lot.

Does this not seem extraordinarily early for such things? Maybe its not; I know that I have the "Proud Mommy Syndrome (PMS) like everyone else does, but I just wanted to compare notes.

My daughter has been lifting her head since the day she was born also, but with very little control ((kinda like she's dive-bombing with her head!!))
And as for rolling over, she get half way and then stays on her side, I am pretty sure it's by accident though!
P.S...I have PMS too...just can't help it!

Jaedyn (6 weeks now)is also propping herself up, but she can hold it for verey long. lit's kind of cute w/ all her grunting and swaying. She eventually gets frustrated and squawks for me to pick her up.

I'm sure this PMS is just as annoying to people around me as the other...

Sienna does that too, and scrunches her face all up...I love it!

Jaedyn is quite teh noisy baby. Since birth she's 'vocalized' with a myriad of different sqeaks and grunts. I call her my "sqeaking tit beetle." I love all the little noises. Usually she's pretty good about announcing hunger with a sqawk or two and as long as we get her a bottle or a nipple soon, she calms quickly.

Have you seen any smiling or laughing yet? How old is Sienna (love the name BTW)? Jaedyn's done the noiseless open-mouthed smile several times, but this morning she actually giggled a bit (PMS big time). This is so much fun.

She is almost 5weeks... I had bad PMS when I heard her first giggle too, she usually does it when she's sleeping! She's usually only noisy when she eats, other than that you'd never know she's here! We wanted a unique name that wasn't crazy so we picked Sienna...thanks!

PMS! Jaedyn amazed me again today. I was burping her on my shoulder and looked down and she was holding her head up and steady, looking at a picture on the wall.

Aidan did a lot of the same... except the only times he rolled over when he was a newborn was when I was chaning his dipaer and he'd LOSE HIS FREAKING mind... of course I also got berated on here when I said at 2 weeks he was kicking his feet and "scooting"... not that he was going far but one chick like, lost her mind over it and claimed I was lying... but your baby's progress sounds great!! Aidan is 3 1/2 months now and not sitting up completely by himself or really trying to crawl much but he LOVES to stand up and can hold himself on the edge of his rocking chair and takes little steps when he's holding my hands... so I think EVERY baby does things at a different rate...
