Heat rashes and allergic reactions...

posted 4th Jul
UGH,

So, I've been stalling starting Kaelah on baby food. She got the OK at her 4 month check up and I started on rice cereal for a couple weeks--no skin reactions but she hated it.

At 5 months I had her try some green beans. She did really well but on the 2nd day she started to get this rash. It was about 4-5 hours after we fed it to her and we'd been in the car a lot so she was a little sweaty when we got home. Needless to say I immediately stopped with the green beans just in case. Two weeks later the rash is still there. Its red blotches with a little bit of dry skin mostly on her upper back around her neck and there are a couple blotches on her chest and near her arm pits.

I'm assuming since its still there that its heat rash?? I havent fed her anymore baby food since then. I'm kinda paranoid so I'm thinking about waiting until she's 6 months to try again.

What do you think? Sorry for the rambling!

I would say probably heat rash, but best to get it checked out. My sons heat rash showed up as little red bumps that kinda looked like very small water blisters. IMO I would try a little zinc oxide diaper rash cream on the stuff on the back and see if that helps. I used it on his rash and it cleared right up.

I don't think heat rash is dry...but it could be just heat rash. did you try any different laundry detergent or soaps with her? if not, maybe you could try rinsing her clothes in one extra rinse cycle to see if thats it.

Thanks for the tip! I've been using baby powder to kinda keep the area dry...it seems to help but its still there. I guess i shouldgive the doc a call then..

I use the ALL free and clear detergent...i've been using it for about 2 months with no reaction so I dont think thats it. I may just try the extra rinse cycle though...i never thought of that.

Thanks!

Free and clear detergent is still soap though...even though it has no perfumes. Try an extra rinse cycle for a while and see if that helps. You may want to get it checked out still though.

True. I'll try that and in the mean time give the doc a call. Thanks!
