Baby hiccups

Ok, so I know that babies get hiccups in the womb and I know that it means they are practicing breathing. But does it have anything to do with their lungs becoming mature? I'm not asking because I want my baby to come now, just because it is something I have been wondering about. My little guy gets them 3 or 4 times a day everyday (for a few weeks) and I was just wondering if it meant anything other than they are practicing breathing. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I couldn't find anything about it other than it's normal (which I know).

I'm really not sure, but I don't think so. My little man started getting hiccups in utero about 10 times a day at around 28 weeks. He is now 3 1/2 months old, and he STILL gets them about 5-10 times a day, and of course, he's not practicing breathing on the outside. I think its just something they do.
