i have uterine irritibality because of my kidney retaining fluid. I am on modified bedrest (well, not anymore...cuz i'm far enough along, woohoo!) so I WAS on bedrest for pre-term labor, having those types of contractions and a bunch of Braxton Hicks. They basically just told me to take it really easy, drink a lot of water, and make sure that if I start to feel a lot of them, or start getting painful ones...to lay down on my left side and relax.

Hey. I had that with my pregnancy. Basically, you have contractions, but they don't produce. It is like your uterus is tempermental. I would get contractions if I rolled over, bent over or stood up from a lying postion. As long as you aren't dialating, you should be fine. I would take it as easy as possible, though. Keep your feet up when you can and keep hydrated. Mine started @ 28 weeks, I actually delivered a healthy boy yesterday @ 38 weeks.

My Dr was not concerned with it at all. There are alot of articles on the internet about it. It really is more common than you think.

Good luck and relax! You will be fine!!!

i'm sorry, i wasn't trying to say that it was! don't get worried! haha. i should've said that it was a "preterm labor RISK" but it was because my kidney was causing me a lot of problems, not because of the irritability that my kidney was causing. wow, i'm making no sense at all now....

so don't worry though, you'll be fine! just take it as easy as possible, and drink lots of water! i start my 36th week tomorrow, and he's still in there!

I had that but the doc said it was because I was dehydrated and she said I needed to drink even more water. I didn't think it was possible to drink an ocean.

Uterine irritability should not be confused with preterm labor. A uterus that contracts might be doing just that, contracting. As long as these contractions are not affecting the cervix—by pulling it open or shortening it—there is not risk for early labor. If you are experiencing early contractions, your doctor will be able to evaluate the contractions to see if they are cause for concern
