How can a "fellow black american" oppose Obama?

My mom just found this article...and found it quite interesting. Feel free to read if you'd like.

Do you know that 36 percent of babies aborted are black, while blacks make up 17 percent of live births? Do you know that polls show blacks are more pro-life than are whites?

Somebody please explain to me how blacks are more prolife then whites if they make up 36% of abortions and only 17% of live births??

Im not calling a race issue, im calling a bullshit fact...

well,...I'm thinking about it....maybe if he had shown the percents of abortions and live births of all races that it would be a better argument....

basically what that means is that the other 64% of abortions are to "white" babies.....
the % of lives births shows the comparision of children being born... meaning that there are more white babies, as well as more white abortions. They're seperate stats... they don't actually conflict.
as for the article.....

I was impressed.
It's nice to see people of any race who will actually stop looking at people and ploitics based on color. You can't oppose someone baised on their race or your being racisit...... but i think people who support anyone based only on heir color or gender are doing the exact same thing.

thats what i thought but there are also white, hispanic, and all other races, so i hardly think that even HALF of that is white statistics...

I don't think that color should determine our votes of the next man to run the country. I think it should be based on their views on things like education, taxes, the war, economic issues. None of those things have anything to do with color. So if you're pro white or pro black you are voting for all the wrong reasons.

I've had this little feeling that republicans are just a bit more on the money and greed way. Important ppl (with money) call the shots while the little ppl have to follow (which from my understanding, was never really that fair). And democrats are more about the ppl.

I'll say I'm a bit naive when it comes to politics, but my dads a huge politician, and from what I remember, republicans (at least today) have been going too far. I think we need a democratic president.. I'm just hoping obama would fit the job.

I guess my view on it is that its not "greed" its more of a "youre an adult, take care of your responsiblities" type of thing. Thats just me.

And I don't think the issues back in the history should be the factor in who we vote for. The issues that matter are for TODAY.

When you break down the larger population there is only a small representation of other ethnicities besideds white and 'black' - but I agree it would have been nice to see the rest, but you could look up he states yourself, his article wa sonly focusing on black and white populations b/c thats what the person who wrote in was focusing on... tehre's only so much room in an article, you don't want to throw in info thats not realted to the original commont if you don't have to..... but had it been just an article and not a response to someone else I would definately think he should have had a broader scope.

Yep. I agree. I'm speaking politically though. I'm not talking about citizens, which is totally different.

Actually whites make up 66% of the population and blacks make up less of the population than hispanics do. It's a common misconception that there are mainly blacks and whites.

I'm not starting drama I was just surprised by it when my Gov't teacher showed us these stats. I thought that it was an equal amount of whites and blacks then a handful of hispanics and other races. I was wrong.

Really... didn't realize that...... We don't have nearly as many hispanic people in Canada - surprisingly we have a rather large asian population in contrast.
IDK where he was going with that then.... maybe we should all write him and ask?? *wink*
