posted 4th Jul
ok my daughter has reflux and is on Prilosec for it. But our insurance doesnt want to approve it. Also, its a compound and the solution expires before the prescription is up. Im just wondering what other meds your babies my be on.
We tired Zantac, it was notstrong enough. And we have tired Reglan to helpempty her stomach fasterand she was really fussy on it, like it was upsetting her stomach. Any other suggestions please let me know.
Thanks.

gripe water helped with our son....
home remedy for babies with colic, gas, teething pain, reflux or other stomach ailments. Its ingredients vary, and may include alcohol, bicarbonate, ginger, dill, fennel and chamomile. It is typically given to the infant with a dropper in liquid form; a single dose may be 2.5 to 10 ml, depending on the age of the baby, repeated several times daily. Adults may also take gripe water for soothing intestinal pains, gas or other stomach ailments.
Gripe water is recommended by some pediatricians and alternative practitioners as a natural treatment option. It is available in the US as an over-the-counter FDA regulated medicine as well as in various dietary supplement forms. Although many parents report positive results using gripe water no formal clinical studies have confirmed its efficacy. Various remedies to fix minor upset stomachs in babies have been around for centuries in different cultures, but the first "gripe water" was formulated in England in 1851 and used by English nannies. The original Woodward's Gripe Water contained 3.6% alcohol, dill oil, sodium bicarbonate, sugar and water. In 1993, the Food and Drug Administration ordered an automatic detention of all shipments of Woodward's into the U.S. on the basis of it being an unapproved drug. Woodward's has since been marketed online as a supplement although a 2000 review in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine found that most of the ingredients in Woodward's gripe water are of questionable value in relieving infantile discomfort, and that getting a fussy baby to stop crying may be no more complicated than giving it some sweet-tasting liquid.[1

I'm so glad you stopped the Reglan. That medicene can have SERIOUS lasting side effects. My doc tried giving me that, I went home, researched, and said HELL no. My son is on prilosec, they refill it whenever it runs out, I don't have a certain date. But I agree with you that it expires even before the expiration date they give.

Zantac didn't work, and like I said I wasn't doing the Reglan.
Try prevacid? I heard that works like a charm.

Evan was on Axid. He did really well on it plus it was easy to give it to him b/c it tastes like bubblegum. We used that until he grew out of it.

I'm sure you know this but I practically sat him up when feeding him and that is supposed to help also.

I did some reading on the Reglan before I gave it to her, and the directions were to give it to her 4 times a day. I only gave it to her once a day, both the days. I was too scared, and was glad she got fussy so I wouldnt have to worry about it anymore. Ive heard Prevacid is real good. May talk to them about it. Thank you.

Yeah we tried zantac first. It didnt work. Then we went through 6 formulas and started the prevacid. It took about a month for the prevacid to kick in. On top of the med. we had to super thicken his bottles. like 1-2 tsp of rice cereal per ounce of fomula. I didnt wanna try to many meds cause some of them have some really bad side effects. He hasnt had any side effects from the prevacid.
