New mom questions...
posted 3rd Jul
Hello ladies! I've just recently transitioned from posting on pregnancy issues, to this thread!
Anwho, I have a couple questions:
* How long did you wait to take your newborn out? How long would you wait to go for walks in their stroller? What about toa bowling alley...or some place like that?
* Did you start excersizing right away, or should you wait awhile? (not that I am in ANY rush, lol) I'm just curious if there is some sort of timeline you should go by when it comes to working out??
Thank you in advance!

You should definitely wait a while to take the baby out, with germs and being that their immune system is not fully developed until they start receiving immunizations. If you take them on a walk in a stroller, make sure they're covered well, the bright sun can be bothersome, and any wind can take their little breath away. WAIT A VERY LONG TIME for a bowling ally, usually a smoky place, which is obviously bad for their little lungs. Exercising, usually just walking, nothing too strenuous, most docs say until the 6 week PP appointment

I took Tait ouw the night we came home from the hospital. My mom was staying at a hotel and she and my father aren't civil towards one another, so I took him to the hotel to see her. I think it would be ok to take him? her? (sorry i didnt see if you had a boy or girl) out since its summery, I had Tait in the winter and everywhere we went he was bundled from head to toe lol. I think my doc said to wait till after the 6 week pp checkup, just to make sure everything is where it's supposed to be.
Congrats by the way!

Congrats Mommy
I woldn't say that I am the ideal person to answer this but I will answer honestly The day I brought both of my children home from the hospital we were out and about. I left right from the hospital and went out to walmart to buy a new carseat. I had got one at a yard sale and put it up and never got around to checking on it and when my mother brought it to the hospital on DDay my husband realized one of the straps was messed up. I would suggest taking into consideration the weather when you had your baby, and then the safest thing is to wait until the first shots are out of the way.

Aidan was out to a restaurant at a week and a half...
Out in his stroller for the first time NOT including dr's visits at like 2 weeks...
I had a c-section and honestly it still hurts when I do too much walking around so I don't think I'll be hittin' the gym anytime soon STILL... not to mention I have no time!! lol!! But Aidan keeps me running around and the fact that I rarely have time to eat has helped the weightloss some too...

Thank you all! I really am in no rush to jump on my treadmill, so I think I'll still with the 6 week checkup rule! lol. The weather is nice here, so I think I will play it by ear when it comes to taking her out for a stroll. I definitely will NOT do the bowling alley- much to my husbands dismay.

Hey! The answer to all of your questions is whenever you feel comfortable doing it! I took Jackson on errands before he was even a week old and he did fine with everything.
In terms of working out, it's a misconception that you need to wait 6 weeks. The sooner you get moving, the sooner the weight will come off. Granted, you need to listen to your body and if something is uncomforable or painful, you should definitely wait, but I was back at the gym at 1 week PP(I asked prior to giving birth and my OB said it was totally fine)and it made me feel great to be moving again. It made me feel like myself again.

i took my son out the on the way home from the hospital. He's now 3 weeks old and doing fine. He goes places with me all the time. I don't believe in waiting to take them out, to me it's just silly. There are germs everywhere even at home. As for excersing I haven't started expect for walks. Start excersing when you feel comfortable to. I had a pretty easy delivery where I didn't even tear so I have nothing that needs to heal.
