Am I crazy for thinking he's dying?

So I had to "babysit" tonight. Its a girl Ive babysat for nearly ten years, shes almost 14 now. I took her and her friends to a movie... But I came to a realization tonight... Her dad is dying... Ive had to babysit her a couple times during the week overnight so that her parents could "go to a specialist" in Mass. And a family friend told me today that he's been really "sick." And when I got to their house today to pick up the girls, we had the average greeting when I walked in, but he followed me into the livingroom and hugged me. He's never done that, its always just been polite conversation when I was coming or going... But he hugged me... And it all hit me at once... It was like he had been given a deadline, just the way he acted... It was really sad... My mom keeps saying not to think the worst, but its just like I can tell... She said maybe he was excited about me being pregnant, but that wasnt it. Yeah he asked about the baby and everything, but he just seemed so... vacant...

That's very sad, but I can understand how you came to that conclusion. My dad was terminally ill for a year before he finally passed from colon cancer. My parents didn't try and keep it on the down low though.

Yeah, I feel like theyre trying to keep it quiet because they dont want anyone to feel sad about it, they want to enjoy what time he has left and just appreciate life and the people in it more...

That's sad! I hope you're wrong, but it sounds like something big is going on for him. Do you have any idea what's been wrong?
We have a family friend that was sick suddenly. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with him and he couldn't breathe or get out of bed. After months of testing they decided to test him for AIDS just because they couldn't think of anything else. Turns out that's what he had. He doesn't know where he got it, he only can guess that he got it through work because they used to share razors to shave in between shifts. He has a wife and 3 kids. They gave him 2 years, but so far he's been almost 3 and hasn't been sick again.

I have no idea whats wrong, I know his family has a terrible history of cancer... So Im guessing thats what it is, hard to tell if hes been doing chemo or radiation, all of him and his brothers have shaved their heads since their father was diagnosed...

omg i could not imagine getting HIV or AIDS from such an innocent act. That would truly be terrible...
