Just want opinions.

Ok so a friend of mine are currently talking about wine and pregnancy she and my sister claim it is safe to drink small amounts during pregnancy and her doc told her it was ok.....I just want people's opinions. I haven't drank anything during my pregnancy so don't attack I simply want to know your thoughts...

When my friend was pregnant with her twins she would have a glass of wine every other night. Her OB told her it was a good way to just rewind and relax. I have the same OB and she told me the same thing, but personally I don't like wine so I didn't have any.

I would never drink while pregnant. I could wait 9 months easily.

I think my mother in law may have had a few drinks with one or more of my husbands younger siblings, and all of her kids are perfectly healthy and smart as whips. It's just not something I personally am willing to risk, so I haven't enen broached the subject with my ob.

i think you can have a glass of red wine a few times a week idk i think i read that somewhere

I know plenty of moms who smoke and drink while prego... but Im in the same boat.. not something I would risk bc I could never forgive myself if something was wrong... I pray nothing is, but if it were to be I would need to know I did everything I could tohave ahealthy pregnancy.

Better to be safe then sorry is what I always say.

Your dr. may say it's safe or not safe but ultimately it's up to you. I personally believe it's more than safe from the simple fact that most of our parents or at least those conceiving my generation, drank while pregnant. Not "let's go out and get wasted"...but they had cocktails and I think the majority of us turned out OK. So, as long as you're not boozing it up each night you should be fine. I think there is way too much info out there on what you should and shouldn't do while pregnant based on these 1 in 1 million chance statistics. It's all about our overly paranoid society and god forbid we do somethingthat society "says" is wrong!!!!!

Ya I quit smoking after 8 years and that was really hard I never was a drinker I just seem to hear from people that wine can be healthy i was just wondering what everyone else has heard.

They say red wine is good for your heart (in moderation of course). They even say to put some in your pets water to help them stay healthy (no I am not comparing a baby to a dog/cat so chill). I wouldn't drink just b/c I am a worry wart but if ob's are telling you its ok then it must be ok!
