C section vs. Vaginal delivery

posted 3rd Jul
I'm sure this has probably been posted about before, but I was wondering...
Which is more painful? For some reason I am absolutely terrified of (for some reason) having to get a C section, even though that's completely unreasonable.
The thought just freaks me out, and I hope I don't have to! But really...which is worse?

I had a c and it was only really bad for the first day. It got better and better after that. Plus my lady bits are still in their original condition. No loose lips for me!!   I liked my c and am going to have to get them with all my children from here on out.

It depends upon who you ask.

Some people might say they loved their c-section, and some might say they hated it. I had to have an emergency c-section with my son and the recovery took a while, and the pain the first two days was horrible.

I wouldn't worry about needing one, and don't let a doctor talk you into one unless there is a medical reason for it. Some docs these days are getting lazy and are taking the easy way out of taking care of their patients. If you do all that you can do to attempt a vaginal birth and a c-section is what you end up needing just make sure you follow the instructions given by your doctor in means of caring for yourself.

i had a csection yesterday.

not bad at all, im feeling great.

I was terrified I cried for about two hours before they rolled me into the OR
and honestly, it was NOTHING. The spinal didnt hurt at all, just a bit of pressure, and then I just got a tingly feeling all over from my chest down, and next thing i knew I heard my baby crying.

No pain at all. Afterwards the spinal wore off in about, 2 hours..I just started getting a warm sensation around my incision, they gave me some toredol for pain and some delauded every hour or so.

and today im just on tylenol 3s.

and im up and walking around and i took a shower this morning, i can carrry my baby...

if u have to get a csec don't worry, if i can do it you can do it.

Oh, I was scared of it too. But once you are there all you care about is your baby. And i had a messed up birthing expereince and an emergency c-section. You do what you gotta do for your child. And once it is over, you realize just how much MORE you would have gone through for them. I would have gone though 100 c-section to bring my baby boy into this world. They are worth it! Trust me!

Um, well I can tell you the best way. Its the natrual way. Vaginal. Your body was made to give birth. And, your vag WILL heal after dilivery. Mine is just the way it was before I had Artemis. But some people are diffrent, what ever.

I was planning on having a vaginal birth, but I had to have a C-section instead because my 5ft2in frame couldnt birth a 9lb1oz baby. Honestly, I'm glad I had one, recovery seems like it is a lot easier because your only healing at your incision. It was only painful for like two days and then I felt like myself again within a week.

Thanks, you all really are helping. I know it's silly to worry about, but I've never had any type of surgery ever!

I had a natural child birth the first time with my son and got a 4th degree tear. He was 9 lb's 11 oz and just too big. He also broke his collar bone.  Because of a lot of what happened with that birth I had a c-section with my daughter the 2nd time around. To me the vaginal birth was less pain for a longer period of time. The c-section was more pain for a shorter period of time. The first day or two were bad but I prefer the c-section over the tramatic vaginal birth I had. Some people have very easy vaginal births though.

why do you have to get all c-sections? my dr. that delivered my daughter said "once a c-section, always a c-section" but the navy drs. that delivered my son were going to let me try a VBAC, but then they freaked out when they estimated his weight and i'm glad i went through with a c-section.

IMO a c-section isn't bad at all. you're probably a little more sore, maybe for a little longer, but it's not too bad. i'd almost rather have my little scar, than possibly a fucked up vagina

I'm not a small girl, and I'm very curvey in the hip area, so I don't think I will have any problem with a vaginal birth. Of course, I still have a long time before I have to do it, too. I try to tell myself not to worry about it, because no matter what the baby has to come out someday, and worrying about it won't do any good!

I tried giving birth natural with no epidural. I pushed for two long hours. I freaking begged for the C section. When I got it, I was fine. I didn't feel a thing. Make sure they give you some pain meds though if you end up getting a c section. It's not horribly painful or anything it's just hard to get up and down from a sitting/laying postion to get the baby. Good luck hun and try not to worry too much. Whatever ends up happening, you'll still have your baby and it'll be worth it!
