playpens???

My MIL is keeping my 4 1/2 week old tommorow night and she said she has a playpen that she is going to use for him to sleep in, she bought it like 3 years ago to use with my neice. Is it safe for an infant to sleep in a playpen or should I bring my bassinett for her to use and calmly ask her to buy a portable crib?? I am really nervous about leaving him overnight anyways and I want to make sure he is sleeping in something that I know is good. Any advice helps.............

I think a playpen is fine! It's like a crib. If it has a bassinet attachment, that's even better, but if not, it's still fine.

If you'd feel better bringing your bassinet or a portable crib, though, it's up to you.

the first night we came home from the hospital my husband slept downstairs with our baby and she was in her playpen. Your baby will be just fine.. but if you are more comfortable then you should bring the bassinett... even if she doesn't use it you will be able to relax.

My nephew slept in a pack n play for the first few weeks cause they were moving. i'm sure it's fine, just make sure she doesn't have a lot of loose blankets and such around him.

I'd bring something that the baby will recognize from home.... that way they feel more comfortable...

my baby slept in a pack and play till he was 7 1/2 months old....so its just fine!
