Heartbeat slowed down

posted 3rd Jul
Yesterday morning I checked my baby's heartbeat with my doppler and it was about 177 and last night after we had sex I checked again before i fell asleep and it was at 165 166 or so. I again checked this morning and it was still at that rate. Does that sound like its okay? I know a healthy heartbeat is between 120-180 but dropping about 10 beats? i know we arent doctors but i was just wondering if any of you have experienced this.

its way in the normal range... orgasms relax the baby and cause their heart rates to slow down.. doesnt hurt them in any way

When I was in the hospital on Tuesday I got to watch Dominic's heartbeat for over 4 hours. It went from 120 to 180 in just a matter of seconds and this went on all night. The nurses said it's normal and actually what they look for in a healthy active baby.

I know when I went to L & D for some pains they had hooked me up to a monitor and during that time her heart beat went from 170 down to 143 and then up to 160. I asked the nurse if that was normal and she said it is and not to worry. So as long as it is above 120 your little one is doing just fine.

i tjust depends on how active they are. plus as time goes on the heartrate decreases. i dont think the dopplers are intended to determine the heartrate for yu, i think theyre just to reassure you the heart is still beating. so just be glad it's there at all.

Like everyone else said, it's all about how active baby is.  Just like you, if baby is active their heartrate is going to be higher.  I had to get several NST's done towards the end of my pregnancy and they actually watch for that.  It's actually worse when  a baby's heart rate is constantly flat.  So I wouldn't worry about it.  IT sounds like baby is doing fine.

When the baby is active it goes up, when the baby is not as active it will slow down a little bit so don't worry mama it's normal!!

this is a little diffeerent than what your saying, but when i would go into get non stress tests each week, everytime i was hooked up to the monitor, Anthonys heart rate would like stop for a second, it scared the crap out of me, but i guess he was just pinching the umblical cord they would say.
creeped me out.

does the baby actually pinch the umbilical cord with their fingers?

well he i guess grabbed it with his hands.
he came out with his hands in a fist, and he was constantly grabbing things, so i wouldnt be surprised if he was squeezing it all the time. each time i went in for a non stress test, it would stop.
at first i freaked out and the nurse was like "its okay! its just him squeezing the cord"
and when he came out his heart was fine so........
