gallbladder removal... whos had it?

posted 3rd Jul
i've been having a lot of issues with my gallbladder since my son was 6 days old (hes over 3 months old now). it had gotten so bad that about a month ago, i had to go the the ER cuz the pain was so bad. so i finally got to go to the doctor last week, had un ultrasound on my gallbladder on monday, and my doc called me back earlier today. turns out i have gallstones, and since i keep having the pains, i need my gallbladder removed. he referred me to a surgeon, who i have an appt with on monday to discuss everything.

now, i've heard that after the surgery u cant lift more than 10 lbs. that and i dont know how long it takes to heal and everything. i need some reassurance from the ladies who have had their gallbladders removed. i'm having a bit of a hard time knowing that i do need it removed and not know if i'll be able to take care of my son for a while after the surgery.

I have "sludge and polyps" in my gall bladder now too... idk if i need mine out yet but I want to hear what other ladies say who had it done.
My friends aunt had to have her's out after she had a baby. I guess its common.

yea, my doc says its very common for overweight women and women who had a baby recently... unfortunately i fall into both categories

Well after surgery you feel like you have no stomach muscles, but at the second week youll be able to do things. Just take it easy.

You want to know about the procedure and the recovery?

I will tell you all about mine if you want.
I had to have an emergency surgery to have mine removed.

Just private message me if you're interested.

It's a relief to have it gone but, for the most part the recovery period is kind of rough. For about the first 3 days I wasn't able to walk upright. Best thing to do it hold a pillow to your stomach when you try to get up and walk. The best thing is to try to push thru the pain and make yourself get up and get around to keep the muscles from getting stiff and even more sore. They'll usually give you narcotic painkillers (vicodin, lortab, etc) but, the best thing I found is just to take 4 over the counter Ibuprofen. Helps with the inflammation. The only other thing that kinda sucks is when they do the surgery, they fill your abodmen with air to help move the internal organs around so they can get to the gallbladder. You may or may not have bad gas/shoulder pain for a few days.

I don't know what the max weight it. Every doc will tell you something different. I know 2 days after surgery I helped put together a trampoline. I'm just hard headed like that.

lol i would probably be like that too, i cant resist holding my son, and i wanna make sure he's taken care of properly.... besides, i'll probably be home alone most of the time, so i'd have to do it by myself
