Um, so? lol I never said that Hindus didnt believe in GODS. But you know they believe in more than one, right? So Under GOD, is a direct reference to judeo-chrisitan faith.

Which still completely leaves on atheists and agnostics.

I understand where you're coming from, but much of our society has been adapted to fit the atheist/agnostic viewpoints by totally eliminating any religious references. Why is it that this "religion" (the lack of belief) should be catered to more than any other religion? Since no one is forced to say the pledge, it is solely a matter of choice whether or not you wish to partake in that part of american culture that does not streamline with a lack of belief.

Why does everyone feel the need to say this all of the time? We know it's your opinion otherwise you wouldn't be stating it. We have nothing against your opinion, this is D&D therefore we're going to debate. :]]

I don't believe our country has "adapted" to anything. In the beginning of founding this government THEY decided to create the seperation of church and state. If anything we are always adapting and catering to Christians.

Okay...here's most of the points I wanted to make.

And my personal opinion...I don't think the pledge means anything to the majority of young kids b/c America doesn't (in some aspects) seem to be unified. It's not like on a daily basis we praise the unity of our country or have awe...we're quite individualistic. So a pledge to one thing (flag, country, gov't, whatever) seems abstract and far removed. I think the pledge is quite empty.

But the pledge was in commeration of Columbus discovering America...so in a way the pledge is an allegiance to the spirit of exploration.

I actually got in trouble when I was in highschool for sitting down during the pledge (mind you, this was over 13 years ago now). I ceased being a christian rather early in life (I chose to go another route when I was 12 years old). For a long time it had pissed me off that I was having to say, "One nation, Under God"...when I didn't even believe in that god.

So, I started sitting during the pledge. I refused to say something I did not believe in. For awhile, they kept giving me detentions, thinking that would deter me. However, after almost a month of it...they finally gave up.

I disagree. At the Sea-Tac airport in Seattle WA, they were sued and forced to take down ALL Christmas decorations even though the decorations on display had absolutely ZERO christian Christmas resemblance.. I'm talking Santa clause and christmas trees. Is this what we want?? A total lack of any holidays, family traditions, national recitations (aka the plege), just to satisfy those that wish to have any semblance of a god completely wiped out of this country?

So if you done beleive in God then dont say it. Why should it be removed completely for ALL the religions that do beleive in God or Gods cause one group doesnt like it.

How about the people and religions that do like it? What about them?
I get so sick of hearing that everything has to be changed to suit the other groups. how about the people that dont have a problem with it and dont want it changed? Who thinks about the other side?

I guess I grew up in a school with more freedom. Kids who didn't want to say it, sat down and didn't say it and no one cared.

maybe it's b/c they didn't decorate for hannukah and kwanza as well? And many other religions don't have a winter solistice celebration so they'd be left out no matter how diplomatic you try to decorate...
