Quoting Blissful Mama:“ I thought they took out the "under god" part awhile back.. because so many people were making a stink about it..”
Quoting ~*~HautéMama~*~ BISH!!:“ I smile now when I see your posts.. lil shit disturber, lol. But seriously, the "Under God" doesn't ... [snip!] ... problem with making the kids say the pledge.. I had to, they should be bothered with the same annoyance each morning too! lol..”
Quoting Dev22:“ You are right, sory. I guess I shouldnt have said FORCED. But most kids DO recite it. It is part ... [snip!] ... say the pledge, you get touted as unpatriotic and it is said you dont love your country (like people tried to say about Obama)”
Quoting Cowgirl♥Up:“ Oh yes, they did. While I was still in high school actually.... so like 3-4 years ago I think.”
Quoting ms.luker:“ We are one nation under god. He created the earth and we are litterly under him on this earth!”Um, not to a Hindu, a Buddist, an Athiest, an agnostic ect ect ect....
Quoting Cowgirl♥Up:“ I never said it and no one said boo to me about it. I didn't feel left out either. What's the big ... [snip!] ... say at in schools. Is it causing any harm to the children? Are they being mentally damaged by saying/not sayingthe pledge? No.”
Quoting Dev22:“ No, that woudl be a negative. The "Under God" is still in the pledge. Maybe they took it out in your ... [snip!] ... it out in your specific school? I did a whole debate speech on this last semester in college, so its def. still in there.”
Quoting Beth [due 12-25-08]:“ Wtf? Where the hell have I been? I haven't heard one thing about that ever.”
Quoting Cowgirl♥Up:“ I never said it and no one said boo to me about it. I didn't feel left out either. What's the big ... [snip!] ... say at in schools. Is it causing any harm to the children? Are they being mentally damaged by saying/not sayingthe pledge? No.”I find it damaging to have a child blindly pledging their "allegiance" to something. If they don't understand what they're pledging to it's like we're trying to raise robots or something. If they want to say it when they get older and understand the meaning of pledging to your country etc then go for it. I know everyone's saying they didn't have to say it, but in all of my schools here we did.
Quoting Dev22:“ Um, not to a Hindu, a Buddist, an Athiest, an agnostic ect ect ect....”The Vedic faith system, is known to stretch back to around 3000 BCE. Over its lifetime, it has incorporated all sorts of prayer systems from fire-based rituals to philosophical musings. Prayer was part and parcel of the Vedic lifestyle, and as such permeated its books. Indeed, the highest sacred texts of the Hindus, the Vedas, are a large collection of mantras (sacred hymns of Hindus, later adopted by Buddhists) and prayer rituals extolling a single supreme force, Brahman, that is made manifest in several lower forms as the familiar gods of the Hindu pantheon. Hindus in India have numerous devotional movements. Stemming from the universal Soul Brahman prayer is focused on the personal forms of God, such Shiva, Vishnu, or Vishnu's avatars, Rama and Krishna.
Quoting Dev22:“ I honestly dont get it. Why do we make our kids say the pledge? Do they really believe that if a child ... [snip!] ... on when "Under God" was added: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_Allegiance#Addition_of_the_words_.22under_God.22”
