re: Your baby's name...do "they" Like it?

My brother wants to name their baby Harley...well they are not pregnant yet....but I am naming my daughter Diem...it has a meaning which I love...it means "Pretty" in Vietnamese and "Day" in Latin...Everybody is like what is it? How do you say it? Some of my family doesnt like it but Tough Shit....Her Daddy named her and I agreed with it...End of Story...It doesnt Matter who Likes it..My Little Princess will arrive her BC will read "Diem Nicole Gilbert" bottom line...thats how I feel about it

Ooh, Jett was one of the names I wanted, but stupidly I mentioned it to my mom (my most vocal opponent in all of this) and she started complaining about it. So I didn't tell anybody what I had chosen until Julien was born.

Ironically, at my baby shower, everyone was pushing for me to tell them and my mom was saying "Oh, I hope you didn't choose Julien. That's just a stupid name" and my best friend was saying, "Oh, I hope you didn't choose Kai...".

no one liked my sons name at first they wanted me to name him Alexander butI wanted just Zander and thats what I named him even though they kept tryna get me to give in even while I was in the hospital having him it had got so bad they had even convinced my husband to change it but I stood my ground

I know. I think they think it sounds like leah. But Ugh... I told them the name, and they LAUGHED... like hysterically. i wanted to cry.

same here   She keeps calling her Kimzie. It is KENzie.


His family liked the name and most of mine did as well except for my father. He thought it was to manly sounding. He also knew a guy who had McKenzie as his last name that he could not stand. Now that she is here he doesn't say anything else about it.

i like it alot.. it took me forever to find a name that started with the letter J that i didnt already know someone with that name, or that i thought sounded too popular or so strange he might get made fun of or less likely to get a job etc... i finally settled on jett after seeing it on a babynames site. i think it sounds like a good strong not too common not too outlandish name. After finally picking that it took me twise as long to decide on a D name that i didnt know anyone with that name and that i thought sounded well with Jett. I originally was thinking of using Daryn as a middle name, but when i mentioned it to a close friend who i really value their opinion - they knew someone who was a child molester from their old neighborhood with that name, so it flew out the window real quick!

i specifically chose JDM initials since im single and this baby gets to have my last name. i had a great girls name picked out that meant something to me.. but when i found out it was a boy i didnt have a clue what i wanted so i stuck with family tradition - i am JDM, my brother is JDM, my dad is JDM, his dad is JDM.

I love that name. It is very pretty and it also sounds strong.

I'm naming my daughter Marlee and already I'm getting the Bob Marley jokes and that my son's name is Damian (Damian Marley) it's getting to be a bit too much, lol! I like Marlee and so does BF and that is all that matters... I was single when I was pregnant with my son and for some reason my dad always loved the name Damian so I went with it for him (it grew on me) and of course back then we got "why are you naming after the devil" jokes... I actually started wearing a charm of St. Damian around my neck to let people know Damian was just a name in a movie and not really the Devils name!!!!

I really haven't had a problem with family not liking either of my kids' names. DD will be Siri Kailyn and the only problem I've had so far is that they aren't positive how to pronounce it (it's Seer-ee). I tell them that it's NOT like Tom Cruise's kid, LOL! DS is Alex, just Alex and nobody gave me a hard time for that, but I've got cousins that are just Andy, Katie, Tony, etc, so it's not a big deal.
