coloscopy/biopsy

So in about an hour i am leaving to go and have my coloscopy and possible biopsy done.. I am freaking out... Just before i got pregnant i had an abnormal pap and then a high grade coloscopy but i was pregnant at the time of the coloscopy so i didn't have a biopsy done.. I am soo scared of what they are going to say..

Does the byopsy hurt ?
And if it is cancer how do they remove it ? I know its called a LEEP procedure or somthing but could somone walk me thru it ?

You are having a colonoscopy for a bad papsmear? Or a Laparoscopy.

My doctor called it a coloscopy where they look at my cervix and draw out the spots that may be cancerous

No a colonoscopy is where they go up you butt. You should be getting a laparoscopy....I would double check that...lol! Don't want them sticking something up there if it's not necessary. No the biopsy doesn't hurt. The usually will give you a drug called Versed thru an IV so you will be out of it.In la la land.

thats exactly what they are doin to me next week! ive always had abnormal pap smears. "abnormal A cells" is what they say on the chart.

Its called a colposcopy-I've had 6 or 7 or them. They're really not that bad. I get really crampy during and afterward. They just take little pinches of any spot on your cervix that looks suspicious. Don't worry sweet. You'll be okay.

I didn't find it that painful. I wouldn't dilate though so that had to force me to which was uncomfortable. Trust me...if you can handle child birth you're fine!

I'm sorry OP I read it wrong. You wrote Coloscopy not Colonoscopy! My fault!

colonoscopy is where they stick a scope up your butt and look in you colon and intestines for cancer hehe

yep...not much worse than a regular pap to me. just pinches. (except the dilation part)

yeah , thats the worst part. And its not that it really hurts, I mean its uncomfortable but nothing that you're going scream in agony from.

So im not gonna get put tosleep or anything ? I have never seen the doctor who is doing my procedure.. i have only seen their nurse practioner and she wasn't very specific when i asked about the procedure

no, its very similar to a pap smear. They use this machine called a colposcope that magnafies your cervix by a BAZILLION   Then they put different chemicals/substances on your cervix like iodine and vinagar. The spots they're looking for turn different colors when the solutions touch them and the stip a lil piece off.
