re: Homecoming Outfit

I'll be taking a preemie and a newborn.. Both my boys ended up going home in preemie.. They were 7.9 and 6.5 and my smallest son wore the preemie for the first month of his life... So likely this one will be going home in preemie as well, but i'll be bringing a newborn one just in case he is too long for preemie.. Really though the weight range on the newborn stuff just isn't realistic it doesn't fit a 5 pound baby well and fits beyond an 8 pound baby..

That's interesting to know. I didn't know 6-7 lb babies still need to wear premie clothes. I actually think premie clothes are cuter, but didn't buy them hoping I won't be having a premie. Should I buy one just in case? Even though my LO has been measuring a little ahead, I can't imagine myself having more than a 7-lb baby given my belly size. I was a 6-lb baby myself and so were all my sisters.

This is sooo late, but my twin bro and I were born in Galveston... a hurricane sent my Mama into preterm labor with us, she was put on bed rest at the hospital for the last month =)

I would buy one to bring to hospital just in case... If your worried about the length of a preemie outfit being too short buy one that has open footies.. But I would certainly buy one for the hospital just in case and maybe an outfit or two for at home and just leave the tags on those so you can return if your baby does need newborn immediately. If you need them hubby or someone can wash them once your home from the hospital.. I think they are cuter too! My daughter lacked one ounce from being 8 lbs and she wore a preemie outfit home. The sizing isn't exactly what they say it is. She was 19 inces long and it fit her perfectly!

Yeah my sister's baby girl was 8.6 and 19 inches at birth and wore them for first 2 weeks.... Their sizing is definately off... The newborn stuff on my boys right after birth was just huge!
