BabyWearing Help (please!&thankyou!!)

posted 3rd Jul
So, Adison is just past 5 months old, and approx. 16 lbs...we will find out her exact weight at her 6 month appointment, that is just her being weighed w/ another person on a bathroom scale.

I have tried babywearing before, and it was torturous to my back/shoulders..however I am pretty sure that it was due to the carriers that I tried.  I have an Infantino Sling Rider, and that was fine when she was tiny, but even when she was just at around 8 lbs, it KILLED my back to carry her in it, even for just a half hour.  She did seem to like being in the sling, though.  I also had a Snugli front carrier. I tried that, thinking it might not hurt my back, w/ the different style, however I was wrong.  Adison didn't even seem to love being in the Snugli, but she was younger so maybe she was just still in that "loves to be cradled" stage.

I SO want to try baby wearing again, I know all of the benefits that it gives to babies, and I also think it would be convenient & give me a reason to go for more walks (don't have to drag the stroller downstairs).  I am willing to spend more on a carrier that will be good for her, good to my back, and we will be able to use for a long time.  By "more" I mean more than my $20-$25 carriers that I have tried already.  I would love to say that it's important to fit Mike too, however the Sling Rider is one taht HE chose and he has yet to try it, ever, so this will be just for me & Adison (ie: if it must be fitted, that would be fine).

My question is:  what carriers do you ladies use?  I have seen a lot of you say Hot Slings & Peanut Shells.  I want to be able to do different carries, not JUST a front carry or JUST a cradle carry.  Back carrying is not important to me, so hip, front, cradle, etc would be my "needs" in a carrier.

Optimally I would like to spend up to $60ish on a carrier, however if it is something that could possibly bring us up through toddlerhood, I would be willing to spend more.

Thanks a lot, ladies, I know that so many of you are knowledgable on this topic & I could really use the advice!!

**cross posting this in PWI/FFA..thanks!

With the hotsling you can do a cradle carry, front carry, and hip carry. With the hip carry you can also slide her under your arm and wear her the same way on your back when she's older.

I posted something similar to this a couple days ago and after reading replys I went with a hotsling, I can;t tell you if I like it however because my baby isn't here yet and neither is the sling but another suggestion people gave was a maya wrap and they look really pretty too. It's so hard to choose something online because you dont know what it going to be like when it gets here. Good Luck.

Also if you go to my post theres a link to a site www.babysnazz.com and they're having a nice sale on the hotslings right now.

i have a moby wrap.. its really good on your back because it covers the entire space of your back.. and there are SO many different carries.. cradle, hip, out facing, tummy to tummy facing... its really neat.. but.. it takes a little bit to get the hang of.
i recently just bought a ring sling.. i really like it.. its easy on the back as well.. and you can do a few differnt holds.. i prefer that over the moby just for the conveience of it.. sooo much easier to put on.. but if you want the option of differnt holds, i'd go for a moby wrap. i use both.. and i do like both, but if im running around and im in a hurry, i do like the ring sling better... easier to get him into it.. but i just havn't spent enough time with the moby to get it down pat lol.

Oh, thanks again, I will check that out.  I don't even know if i will use it around the house as  much, Adison seems to like independence to play a lot, but for going out I think it will be great to carry her...I do carry her a lot now, but in my arms, and she is getting bigger & squirmy..haha..I need something that will offer support while I'm toting her around!

Yeah, I love that target has them now. I probably wouldn't have ordered one online, but I took it out of the package in the store and was able to try it on. Em and I both love it!
