helllpp me please! [[Birthcontrol question..]]

ahhh help.
so i am on nuvaring.
i took it out last wensday and had my period all week.. i was supposed to put it in yesterday but i was still bleeding.. so i didn't... im going to today after i make sure im all done bleeding.. but since it has now been out for more than one week.. how long should i wait before i have sex??
we use condoms.. but i am SUPER cautious when it comes to getting pregnant again.. one form of BC just isn't enough to ease my mind lol.
should i wait like a week before i am safe again?
my dr. told me my periods should start to get shorter after ive been on it for a few mths.. hope that happens soon!.. i told her before i got on the ring that my periods were usually about 2 weeks long but she never said if i should not put it in if im still bleeding after a week or not.. so i didn't b/c thats gross lol..

damn. i guess nobody knows! =[
