I went in to be induced on June 20th at 6AM. They started me on Cytotec right away. I didn't progress past 1 cm for the first 16 hours. Then they started me on Pitocen in the early morning hours of June 21. I started to progress, but slowly. I went all the way to 40 (highest dose) and was only 3 cm dilated. I was started again on Pitocen (second round) after 36 hours of labor. The doctor came in Sat. night June 21 and decided to break my water hoping that would start things rolling. The water had Meconium in it. I was concerned when they told me that because I know that is not good. They didn't seem too concerned and let me progress some more. I was so tired after the 48th hour in labor. I was getting concerned as to whether I would be able to have a vaginal delivery. I also know that every hour started to become critical because my water was broken. The doctors didn't seem to be concerned until I spiked a 102.4 fever the afternoon of June 22nd. After 60+ hours of labor and being fully dilated, they decided to perform a c-section at 5PM on June 22nd. Asher Christpher was born at 5:28 p.m. He had to be rushed to the NICU right away. He swallowed the meconium and also breathed it in. They said he was making some odd movements so they said he probably had a seizure at some point during the delivery, too. I was just heart broken to hear that but I was so glad I had my husband and family there to console and pray with/for me and my son.. During the next four days they performed a ton of tests (EEG, CAT scan, spinal fluid tap, etc) Thank the Lord he passed all of them. We are ALL finally home from the hospital. I've attached pictures of my beautiful son.
