Babysitters!

How do ya'll find babysitters? And does anyone know that website that they have to pay to be on? Peris and I have selfish families who won't babysit..and we need a day out on his bday. I asked my cousin..and she gave me some 16 year old girls number..but I don't think a 16 year old girl would be capable of watching my daughter the way I want her to. I would definitely prefer someone with children and LOTS of experience.

You could try http://www.sittercity.com or http://www.babysitters.com. Both of those sites I think that you have to pay to use, though. Or (it sounds terrible but its not so bad), you could try the childcare section of http://www.craigslist.com. Or ask a mommy friend of yours if she could do it.

Give her a chance. Just check her out well before you use her. My niece is only 13 but she has been around babies so much I will trust her with my child anytime!!! Doesn't mean every one is a good pick at that age but if your friend recommends her, I say give it a shot. Maybe try having her come over so you can watch her interact with the baby for an hour or so before the day you are actually going to leave her alone.

I would definitely try and find a friend that you feel comfortable with before trying one of those sitter sites. I do believe some if not all of the sitter sites do a background check with the applicants and they have to have good referances, so that should help give piece of mind if you have to use one of them.

My cousin told me about her, however she hasn't used her before. She's an honor roll student, and my cousin has talked to her mom and said she sounds like a very responsible girl. I just don't know, I have a 18 year old brother, a 16 year old brother and a 15 year old brother..and I have seen some of their friends who are girls..and I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. I guess I have new-mommy syndrome.  

I would be iffy about a 16 year old too. We have had our friends babysit and they are 19 and 21. If we weren't so far away from our families we wouldn't have anyone other than family babysit.

Has anyone used any of these sites before?

My fiancees step sister babysits here and there for us. She is 16, she is wonderful with the children. She only watched the baby once, but he slept the whole time. We just went to a movie.

She is CPR certified and took all these babysitting classes. So I would just give the girl a shot. Not all 16 year olds are like those girls, lol, I think I could probably picture them in my head.

When were yall planning on going out? Maybe my sister (27 yr old mother of 5 and 1 on the way) lol could watch her. Emily requires too much of my attention or id watch her
